CwBTx Posted March 2, 2014 Author Posted March 2, 2014 haha dont we all! What do you have to say about those chronarchs? Quote
Super User *Hootie Posted March 2, 2014 Super User Posted March 2, 2014 Just been able to play with them in the backyard, and they are really smooth. The Curado seems just as smooth. Sure will be nice to get them on the water. Hootie Quote

HOG727 Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Weather is preventing m from trying out my new Curado I that i picked up at the Classic. I talked to 2 different reps and they have technology in them that I've never seen before. The braking system rubs near the center and really looks different. Adjustable without opening up. They bragged on how well milled the spool is and a couple of other different technologies. They realized the G was a disappointment and want to reestablish the reputation. Quote
Super User Jeff H Posted March 3, 2014 Super User Posted March 3, 2014 They will easily re-establish their reputation with the new Curado. I have stuck with Daiwa and bought several Tatula's but this new Curado is looking sweet and it would seem to be better built based on nothing more than Xship. There, I finally got that out. As much as I do like my Daiwa's and the Tatula is nice, it has left me disappointed by going away from free floating spool design. My worthless opinion is that Curado will win that battle but I'm still gonna run my Daiwa flag and buy every nice HSTA that I come across! Quote

My local Cabelas has the HSTA in stock, I was looking at them just yesterday. As far as the Curado, I agree that it will ultimately win the battle. I think it will have to do more with ergonomics, than an extra bearing, Both will excel in performance, form factor is the biggest difference. I don't think x-ship will make much of a difference for most people. Unless the reel is under a significant load, you'd never even realize x-ship is working. Quote

Just like 4 wheel drive....it's there where you need it to save the day! I agree that most people may not need it for most of their fishing but it's something I'd want whether I need it or not. It's one of those things (imo) that just makes good sense. Quote

I know that's when you want that bearing, but most will never catch a big enough fish to fight hard enough to take full advantage of it. The Tatula's air rotation is a similar concept for making a reel smoother under load as well though. They both have their place. Quote

The biggest improvement is not X ship, its the SVS Infinity braking system. I have both and its head and shoulders above the Tatula in casting distance, and palming(at least for me). I don't think its going to match the Tatula as far as the total amount of drag though. Things I like better about the Tatula, its much quieter, the dragstar is much bigger, and the external brake knob is easier to adjust. Quote
