So I've recently come into some extra money and am selling my reliable old hydra sport andam on the prowl for a brand new boat I've looked at g3 and alumacraft. i really like the price point of the pro 185 from alumacraft and it basic features. wonder if anyone has any experience with alumacraft and there quality and customer service.

I'd say they are in the top 3 aluminum brands up north. I haven't seen their bass boats on the water, but the deep v's and jons are all over the place.

My first boat (longer that 12 ') was a 17.5ft alumacraft. It was a good sturdy boat. I loved it.

They're pretty solid boats. I'd say they fall into the no frills category but they'll be dependable and a good all around boat for you.

Check out Sea Arks too!

I like Alumacraft though.  Quality boats.

that's what I'm looking for a no frills boat.

its aluminum which is easily maintained and more durable for river fishing. i will put a chartplotter with side scan at the console and upgrade my tm to 24v 70-80lb thrust and probably settle on a 90 hp motor i really like the fact it has 8' rod locker and plenty of storage(which my hydra sport lacked).

I don't need the sparkle and bling just a good long deck so my son or wife or FIL can fish up front with me.

I wouldn't hesitate to pull the trigger on one then, it'll suit you well.

I have what is a 16 year old version an Alumacraft bass boat. Still use it and have loved it forever. I am leaving Wed. for a 2 week trip to Guntersville and the boat we are using is the exact same model and HP you are asking about. It has a welded hull and will take any pounding you can give it. We fish the Mississippi 45-60 days a year and that boat is a perfect river boat. 70 lb./24 volt trolling motor is perfect for river fishing. Great choice, I'm sure you will be happy with it. Last year, that boat sold in Wis. for $20k exactly.

I had a 2002 14' crappie jon for 5 years. Got my start in the tourney world with it. Bounced that boat off everything imaginable, had it everywhere, even in the upper chesapeake bay on a not so amazing day  :eyebrows: . They are strong hulls and built well
