Super User *Hootie Posted March 1, 2014 Super User Posted March 1, 2014 Glenn always closes a topic with that phrase. Just curious, what does it mean and where did it come from. Hootie Quote
Hyrule Bass Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 its like a movie director after a scene is shot and complete. atleast thats my interpretation of it...same or very similar to "good night irene" Quote
BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted March 1, 2014 BassResource.com Administrator Posted March 1, 2014 Very close. It's from impromptu theater, where there is no script. The actors are making it up as they go, ergo nobody knows where it's going or how it will end. At some point, they'll reach a point that's a suitable ending. That's when the director will say, "And scene". It's mostly used in comedy improv. If you've ever saw, "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" on TV, that's about it. 1 Quote

BassResource.com Administrator Glenn Posted March 3, 2014 BassResource.com Administrator Posted March 3, 2014 It is a "1940's & 50's phrase used to describe an event or situation with a disastrous conclusion." (from the Urban Dictionary) Quote
