Looking hard at reels for Frog Fishing.  I have been using a 6.2:1 gear ratio citica from a few years ago and done really well, so the gear ratio is not the biggest deal to me.  It is giving me a blister after a few casts and is very uncomfortable to use for even half an hour.  I have pretty much decided on a Abu Veritas Rod, now looking at reels.  Considering the Revo S, Revo SX, and Daiwa Tatula right now.  Cant really afford at the moment a reel that is much more than $150.  The trade in is going to cut that cost a decent amount.  Really looking most at the Revo S since I have one and really like it quite a bit and I think it has the power for frog fishing.  It will save me $20-30 that I don't mind spending on some other baits.  Really unhappy  with my experience with Bass Pro Reels, so I am going to stay away from them.  Anyway, anyone have any other suggestions of quality reels?

I was in the market for a new frog reel as well...and bought the Tatula.

I have one already (and LOVE it), but what really sold me is the max drag rating and max drag performance from the TT test.  Max drag rated to 13.2 lbs, and tested at 16.13 lbs.

I fish frogs in the nastiest Florida grass and pads, and thought this would be a good way to go.

for heavy cover frog fishing I would suggest the Lews superduty, or the Daiwa Lexa, for lighter cover the revo S is a good reel. I have not tried the tatula for heavy cover yet, but I would think that is a great reel for frogs.

I think the Revo S would be a good real for you. If you already have one and like it why switch?

Revo S is a solid choice with plenty of max drag for frogging.  Why don't you like the pro qualifier?

Geez...

The closeout prices on the Curado G series is a no brainer.

$90 - $100 for this reel is a steal!

I went with the Revo S.  Looked at the Tatula and it rubbed on my hand exactly where the Citica did, which gave me a blister. Which is the exact reason I am in the market for a new reel.  And as for bass pro reels, I have had bad luck with them. Love their Extreme Rods though.

The Extreme 7' H makes a really good frogging stick.  It's got a long, soft tip and a stout carbon fiber wrapped backbone.

I love the Veritas but I would think a H power one would be a too much for frogging.  That rod is notorious for being stiffer than the power rating.  My H Extreme has tip like my MH Veritas but a much stronger backbone and more power.  My hookups are approaching 100% thanks in part to the tip on that rod.  Too bad the rod is heavy and clumsy because that action is great for frogging.

I will probably end up with a MH Veritas because it is much stiffer than a regular MH, but not as stiff as a Heavy.  It has a pretty fast tip too.  The revo s with a 7' MH Veritas is what I use for my Jig fishing now and I love it.  I think I will probably duplicate that for my frog set up because it is so light and should be able to fish it all day if need be.  I don't fish in the thickest stuff, most of what I will be fishing is lay downs, open water, under trees, around grass and around bushes and stuff like that. Not many pads where I fish, and not too much slop.
