Super User bigbill Posted February 27, 2014 Super User Posted February 27, 2014 Did anyone order your live target bait ball cranks? I just ordered a few of each of the different offerings. Looks like this bait ball thing just may take off? Quote
SpencerLittle Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 I saw them as soon as they came out at this years icast. They look cool but I don't really think they are gonna catch any different. I may be wrong, but on a rapidly moving bait like cranks I don't think it'll matter that much. The only way I can really see it a new killer is maybe pausing it allowing the "bait ball" to be seen buy fish to trigger a strike? Quote
Super User bigbill Posted February 27, 2014 Author Super User Posted February 27, 2014 I have really good success with slow moving cranks. But the baitball isn't exactly the colors I use but I'll try them. Well see if the work per spawn in April. If it warms up by then. Quote
Super User bigbill Posted February 28, 2014 Author Super User Posted February 28, 2014 I guess no one is buying into the bait ball cranks? Quote
Super User iabass8 Posted February 28, 2014 Super User Posted February 28, 2014 I saw them at dicks a week ago. I will be passing on these. Quote
Avalonjohn44 Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 Refund Check = Bait Balls for me. Can't wait, they look beautiful. If they catch nothing, I will display them on a piece of driftwood. Quote
Wbeadlescomb Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 My buddy owns a tackle store in town and he freaked when he saw them and bought a bunch. I figure it's just to catch fishermen Quote
Super User Tuckahoe Joe Posted February 28, 2014 Super User Posted February 28, 2014 Saw them on TW the other day. They look pretty cool. I've heard someone say that most of the paint schemes on lures are designed to catch fisherman rather than fish. Well I'm guilty as charged when it comes to this. I'm not gonna run out and buy one of every color or anything but I'll most likely pick up a couple. They probably won't catch fish any better or worse than any other crank out there but it's a cool design either way. Quote
Super User tomustang Posted February 28, 2014 Super User Posted February 28, 2014 I'd rather try cranks on the A Rig Quote
Super User bigbill Posted February 28, 2014 Author Super User Posted February 28, 2014 It's the most I've ever spent on one lure. It's the most I ever spent on a unproven lure at one time. Quote
paangler13 Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 Am I the only one thiks a bass can tell the difference between one large body "fish" coming through the water, and three little "fish"? Is a bass not sensitive to know the difference? If the bass "feels" one larger body, then somehow sees three little fish might it not turn him off? I just think this might be a gimmick. A lot of lakes if you get down 8, 10 feet and visability is going to be a little skechy. I am sure it will catch fish, but I don't think these fish are striking because they think it is multiple fish. Good luck, and I hope you tear them up with it! Jim Quote
Super User Jar11591 Posted February 28, 2014 Super User Posted February 28, 2014 I don't know if bass will be able to see a 2-dimensional image like the minnows on the lure and actually read it as several baitfish. I think their visual reception would be based more on colors, not images. But it's all about odds, so the baitball might help your chances ever so slightly. And that's all that counts. Quote
jhoffman Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 I read somewhere that no matter how fast you move a bait a bass see's it in slow motion to us. Quote
WhiteMike1018 Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 I would never throw one of these things, the whole idea is just silly to me. I' dont think theyll last long in the livetarget lineup Quote
mjseverson24 Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 I plan on picking some up, especially the jerkbait and the square bill... Mitch Quote
Super User bigbill Posted March 1, 2014 Author Super User Posted March 1, 2014 Wait now what about using the spider rigs with multiple plastic minnows? The bait ball is on a smaller scale right think about it? I'll try it in my hottest spots and will talk about it. Quote
BassResource.com Advertiser FD. Posted March 1, 2014 BassResource.com Advertiser Posted March 1, 2014 I bought two last month just because I thought they were cool. Fished one for a little bit but it was post cold front. I will try them on Sunday with our 80 degree warm up. Quote
Super User Montanaro Posted March 1, 2014 Super User Posted March 1, 2014 ill buy 2 or 3 quality proven square bills instead of one bait ball Quote
AQUA VELVA Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 I must admit, they do look interesting but so were a lot of other crankbaits I bought that never caught a fish. I will probably get one just to hang in the man cave. Quote
EdsBar Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 I bought the one that dives 3-4'. I'll let you know how I make out on them. Luckily this was a freebie for me seeing as I had some leftover Christmas money. I wouldn't normally spend 15 on a lure. Quote
AQUA VELVA Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 I saw them on sale at Cabela's for $14. Yea, they are real pretty to look at but Im not buying any until see more feedback from the people that will be using them. Quote
Bass NC Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 I have plenty of success with the 4-7$ cranks I am currently using so I don't see a point in switching to the bait balls. They are just too expensive. But hey that's just me. If someone else wants to fill a box with 12+ dollar lures more power to them. Quote
