BASS11 Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 Thinking about heading down to Lake George/Salt Springs pretty soon. What part of the lake is the best and what should I use? Quote

jaysen Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 the south end of the lake has a lot of smallmouth. i know some people have lots of luck and others dont. i was advised to use a pumpkin senko wacky rigged for best results. make sure to have your fishing license since they check it often there (just a reminder so you dont forget). Chief 2 Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 I have never seen a smallmouth in Lake George or anywhere in that area of Fl. Been fishing the area for 20 years. As far as the fishing goes, it has been horribly bad all winter. Even Rodman doesn't seem to be productive. The water has been in the high 50's most of the time. Even the speck fishing has been off. I am hoping to try the St. Johns this coming Monday. Quote
jaysen Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 lol sorry i got confused and thought this was northeast. lake george is a large lake in upstate ny also. my apologies. Quote
Super User RoLo Posted March 2, 2014 Super User Posted March 2, 2014 Debating on Lake George or Lake Sampson. Lake George by a long shot Lake George offers good bass fishing around its entire perimeter as well as the St Johns River north & south of the lake. Three notable sites along the west coast of Lake George are Salt Springs Run, Silver Glen Run and Juniper Creek. Also excellent is Ninemile Point on the eastern shore. The St Johns River north of Lake George (downstream) is renowned bass water from Georgetown through Palatka to Green Cove Springs. Roger Quote
