guisingerevan Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 So I've been looking at a new topwater combo. What do y'all think of the Abu Garcia Revo Rocket and the Abu Garcia Veracity rod? It might just be me but it's a good lookin combo and the revo rocket appears to be very well built, and the same goes for the veracity. Anyone own any or fished any? Is so let me know what you think Quote
Banned-99884 Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 no abu rods, abu reels are ok not there rods Quote
mjseverson24 Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 both rod and reel look awesome, I personally would not spend 150 on a topwater rod, but I might pull the trigger on a rocket before too long. Mitch 2 Quote
Super User CWB Posted February 27, 2014 Super User Posted February 27, 2014 I have several Veritas rods and love them. Not one problem in over 3 years. Also have 2 Revo STX Gen 1 and a Premier that still perform like new. Would like to Try a Rocket. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted February 27, 2014 Super User Posted February 27, 2014 Abu stuff is great, I personaly use the Vendetta and Veritas rods. I'd think about the Veracity but I hate micro guides, and I think thats all they come with. Quote
Blues19 Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 I bought a Revo S and Veritas last Spring and LOVE IT! Quote
Boomer_bassin Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 I had a Veritas that snapped on its second trip out, but the way I was treated by customer service and the speed at which I received a replacement rod made me give them a second chance! They were great to deal with, and I haven't been disappointed with the second rod. My next rod won't be a Abu only because I am wanting a spinning rod that isn't quite as stiff as they seem to be. OkeechobeeAngler Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 Reels=Awesome, Rods=not so much. Quote
Hyrule Bass Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 love their reels, read too many stories here of their rods breaking easily... Quote
Super User AK-Jax86 Posted February 27, 2014 Super User Posted February 27, 2014 I have 3 Abu reels (Revo 3 STX, Silvermax, and Orra spinning reel) love them all... Just learning to use the baitcasters starting with my Silvermax then will break out the Revo during frog season. Haven't used any abu rods though but I always hear good things about the Veritas Quote
Super User WIGuide Posted February 27, 2014 Super User Posted February 27, 2014 Hoping to get a Rocket this year as well and planning on throwing it on my frog rod. Quote
FrogFreak Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 I've been in the market for some budget rods and I can't seem to pull the trigger on any of the Abu rods. Too many folks have reported breaking them. I own a Veritas and I love the weight and feel but I'm not sure about the durability yet. I got it late last season. Here are a couple options you may want to consider in the under $100 category: Daiwa Ballistic or Aird Shimono Sellus Berkley Lightning Shock Powell Diesel St. Croix Triumph (Cabelas carries them) I just don't think you need to spend a bunch on a topwater rod. Sensitivity isn't as big of an issue since it's a visual bite. The action of the rod is more important here. If you're just talking poppers, I'd recommend a moderate action and a medium power. While walk the dog lures will require a faster tip. I use a MHF rod for walking myself. Hope this helps. It's just one man's opinion but I do throw topwaters a ton!! Quote
BenB54 Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 Abu stuff is great, I personaly use the Vendetta and Veritas rods. I'd think about the Veracity but I hate micro guides, and I think thats all they come with. My brother just happened to have a veritas and a veracity in his office. Here is a pic of the veritas micro guides compared to the veracity guides. I would consider the veracity to have semi micro guides. Quote
tbone1993 Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 Gen 3 revos dont last that long. The internal components arent that great because they wanted to cut down on weight. Quote
big poppa Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 I have Diawa, Pflueger, Shimano reels but my favorite are my Abu Garcias. ABU GARCIA FOR LIFE!! Quote
