daiwaguy Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 I am teaching my Nephews to fish and want to teach them traps and squarebills this spring. Only problem is I dont want them losing my good baits. I found this company on Fleabay and they have an actual website. Has anyone had any experience with them? All of there lures say tank tested but for the price of these lures(usually 1-2 dollars each) there is no telling what that means. I wan them to have a lure that runs true but one that I wouldnt care if they lost. Quote
Super User WIGuide Posted February 26, 2014 Super User Posted February 26, 2014 With square bills, you're not going to lose too many given they only run about 3 feet deep. They are pretty resistant to hang ups to begin with, but it will happen. When it does just go get it with a plug knocker or lure retriever. For a rattle type bait get them some Cotton Cordell Hot Spots. They're a very time tested design and they still catch fish. For right around $3 a bait it's not as big of a deal if they lose a few. I think they might also be on sale at BPS for under $2 during the spring fishing classic so you could load up. Quote
moguy1973 Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 I've known a few people that have bought from this place. Finish isn't the best and the hooks definitely aren't great at all, but they've caught fish with them. Quote
daiwaguy Posted February 26, 2014 Author Posted February 26, 2014 yeah I was more worried about them throwing them up into the top of a tree not getting hung up in the water. Quote
MacP Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 Fish with soft plastics and crappie jigs if you're worried about losing them. Quote
gripnrip Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 How old are they? If they are young, they'll go about 10 minutes before getting bored. If I were you I'd start them on inline spinners. They'd hardly ever go 10 minutes without a fish. Those things catch anything. There's a reason Ike has some in his panic box. Quote
daiwaguy Posted February 26, 2014 Author Posted February 26, 2014 9 and 10 years old. I took them a few times last year with T-rigs and they had a blast so I thought I would continue their fishing IQ with something a little different and a little more high paced. I figured if I got them both a box with a little mix of lures they would be even more excited about it. I have some things for them already but I know they would be pumped to get their own little boxes. Quote
Super User Oregon Native Posted February 26, 2014 Super User Posted February 26, 2014 Take them on an adventure to a Flea Market or couple garage sales. May get lucky and they get to be a part of picking that secret lure. Tight Lines 1 Quote
plumworm Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 X2 on the Cordel "spots" for lipless. I still catch fish on them. Quote
