Bps Carbonlite Vs Abu Garcia Veritas

So a buddy of mine swears on the Veritas casting rods. I've heard many positive reviews about the Carbonlite but I've never seen one. What are the similarities with these two rods? Wich is better for flipping/pitching? Crankin? Worms? Price is right for both, but ultimately wich is the better deal. Abu Garcia retails for 99. Bps goes from 100 to 119. Warranty?

My dad and the guy have the micro guide carbonlites and about half the eyes have popped off of them on my dad's and my buddy had the insert pop out on about the third eye up. They now sit in the corner gathering dust. I'd go with the veritas my partner has a couple he flips and pitches with and likes them. I've got 6 of the Powell diesels and like them alot

I have both, if you like a stiffer rod get the Veritas. I have a MIcro Carbonlite and its been a solid rod. Its just not my favorite rod but for the price its hard to beat. Also the Veritas are about to drop in price too.

my only set back on the veritas is that the trigger is fairly uncomfortable.... maybe just be my hands, but it just rubs awkwardly.  i would suggest holding one before buying.

I have 3 Veritas rods. I must say they are freaking sweet for 80 bucks. I have both of the winch rods, and a 7'3" one. They are definitely worth a buy at the 80 dollar price point if your on a bit of a budget. I will be adding a couple more probably by the end of the year because it really does preform above its price point. That may be my inner Abu fanboy coming out but I love em, and there is a reason why the pros use them, ie. Bobby Lane and Iconelli.

I had a Veritas and didnt care for it.  It was too stiff for my intended use.  Plus most of the ones I looked at had jacked up guides and looked pretty crappy.  I exchanged it for a Carbonlite.  I have 2 spinning Carbonlite's, and 1 Micro casting Carbonlite.  I like them a lot more then Veritas.  Just as light weight, sensitive, durable, less issues with messed up guides.  The only real gripes are I don't like the hook keeper on the spinning rods.  Every now and then the line hits it and gets wrapped around it.  I wish them made a micro spinning version and that the handles were a hair longer. 

 

If your looking for a ~$100 rod I feel the Carbonlite is pretty hard to beat.  The Veritas is ok.  Just check the guides real good and be ready for a stiff rod.

The Veritas is 80 bucks at several places. Pretty sweet rod for that price, in my opinion.

Check out Fenwick's SilverHawk rod series. They retail at 100, but i've gotten 2 from cabelas for $50 and they are awesome. I have 1 spinning and 1 casting and both perform well. If i'm not mistaken either BPS or Cabelas will have them on sale shortly for their big events in the next week or so.

I think either rod is very good for their price point, I like the veritas better for the heavier applications, but I would go with the carbonlite micro for lighter t-rigs, jigs, and other lighter weight applications. I think it is kind of a confidence thing fishing in thick junk with super light weight rods makes me hesitate to set the hook as hard as I would with a mojo or veritas. i know it is mostly mental, but it definitely effects the way I fish...

6'9" MH xfast use it for t-rig plastics 3/16.oz weight with smaller craws and 7.5-10" worms.Love that rod!!

7' MH fast good all round rod i use for chatterbaits,jigs,larger t-rigs,traps etc...

Both are regular guides.

 

*edit*Only negative is the placement of hook hanger. I bend mine in a little otherwise it will catch line sometimes during cast.

I own both and much prefer the carbonlite. It just feels better to me. Bass Pro is pretty good about their warranty on their products.

 

Just to clarify, my carbonlite has regular guides. I've never felt the need to get a micro guide rod.

I have a microguide carbonlite and about 10 veritas rods

 

For Worms and bottom contact the carbonlite is amazing with fluoro. When a fish hits the bait it feels "violent"

 

 

I like to use the veritaseseses for everything else...

I have a Carbonlite with microguides. The thing is amazing. Very light and very sensitive. I've never had any kind of trouble with the guides. I just would say to do your homework before you pull the trigger on a microguide. They have their goods and bads. But I love mine, great rod.

I have a carbonlite with the regular guides, I have since replaced it with much much more expensive rods but I still find myself fishing with the carbonlite from time to time. I use it for bottom contact mostly

I have a veritas among my mojo bass and it's definetly a stiffer rod. It's got pretty good sensitivity. Would I get another? If the price was right yes. I like my St Croix's. A mojo wouldn't be bad with that reel either

I've owned 2 carbonlites and 2 veritas,

6'6 mh casting veritas - good all around creature/ lighter jig rod. I liked it for pitching docks and laydowns with various creatures. Great backbone. Ended up selling it just because I had picked up some more expensive tackle and didn't used it

6'6 medium veritas spinning- I've tried using this rod for multiple things. Finesse jigs, small jerkbaits, worms, senkos, flukes, and shakeyheads. Nothing felt right to me. It's weird, the rod was very stiff, yet it seemed to have no power. I don't like it and will probably sell it soon.

6'6? Or 6'8? Mh carbonlite casting micro guide- SUCKS. It's a shame too, because this is a good rod. Stupid light in the hand yet great power. A friend of mine has the regular guide model and it's awesome. I accidentally bought the microguide one, and after having it sent back and replaced twice by basspro for guides snapping off, it now sits in the reserves in my room. I recommend this rod with regular guides

6'8 carbonlite spinning regular guides - great all around rod. I've threw almost everything with this rod and it always performed well. Nice action and power, also stupid light in the hand. Unfortunately it got broken ( had it in my truck and it got crashed into and snapped inside the cab)

Both are good rods for the $, I would have to say the spinning carbonlites are the best deal
