Best States To Live In For Bass Fishing

There is a reason why Florida is known as the ''Fishing Capital of the World'' and why so many people from other states move here. Florida has the best overall fishing of any state, that is fact!

I typed "bass fishing capital of the world" in google, and Lake Eufaula came up.  Not what I would have expected.

Maybe that was because there are two Lake Eufaula's, one in Alabama and one in Oklahoma, and they're both good bass fishing lakes of decent size.  So it's kind of a way to hedge your bets.

That’s what they call it! It’s pretty awesome and when you’re in that region, life revolves around fishing (and hunting). It’s also full of huge bass

I have seen more out of state license plates this year than at any other time in my life. A lot of those people come here to fish our waters so the fishing must be very good for them to invest thousands of dollars to fish here. Lake Okeechobee is a far better bass fishing lake than any I have seen mentioned in this thread. There are many lakes in Florida that are better for catching big bass than Lake Okeechobee. The Everglades is probably the best place in the country to catch large numbers of bass. Florida also have some of the best saltwater fishing in the world. I can give more examples but it is not needed. No other state comes close to Florida when it comes to being the best state for fishing.

Lol I bet you have since you have fished Florida several times. I don't blame you since I would do the same if I lived in a land locked state or in states that get too much snow. On a serious note I have fished several states and I have learned that I much rather fish in Florida than any other state. I can fish for big bass, exotics, powerful saltwater gamefish, many other species of fish whenever I want.

I been to Florida more than a dozen times, and fished every time.  I don't need to go back.  The fishing was pretty good though.  My favorite there was fishing for snook and baby tarpon.  Bass fishing, meh.  Always seemed to be pretty slow.  The fish were big though.

Florida #1 because you have year round excellent fishing, a large number of all free access Lakes to fish, almost every body of water hold bass, and a number of world class exotic fish beside bass.  Peacock being the number one freshwater game fish in the world.  Caught everyday in south Florida waters.  
Then you are never more than 50 miles from some of the worlds best reefs, and salt water game fish.  It’s truly a fisherman’s paradise!  I moved here 50 years ago and never regretted it for one moment.  I fish at least 6 days a week.

Florida definitely has more fishing options than any other State.  Every pond in Florida contains decent bass.  Residential rock pits and canals are everywhere.   At times of low water, Everglades fishing is amazingly good.   Our bigger lakes suffer from tournament overload.  Locals learn how to avoid the crowds and find their own fish. Where ever you live in Florida you are not far from the coast making inshore salt water fishing popular.  For those with finances, offshore fishing is another option.  From Stuart to the Keys, Florida has some of the best sail fishing in America.  Fishing in Florida is different.  It is very hard to have success in a few random days of vacation.  Hire a successful full time guide.  He can't control the weather or the fish, but he knows ways to make you happy.

I have to admit, I really like Michigan fishing. You can catch everything here, from Smallmouth Bass to Muskies to Steelhead! The winters aren't the best, but in Southern Michigan, I fish for Brown Trout in my local stream. It never really freezes, and the Trout still bite! So my vote is Michigan. But for largies, places like Texas or Florida are good.
