Congrats to Alabama anger Randy Howell on winning the Classic this year.  Won it by 1 pound exactly with 67-8. Came from 11th to 1st on day 3. Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.

I'm so happy for him. He seems like a great guy.

He just won the bassmasters and was very humble and gracious thanking God and his family. He even said he doesn't win many Tournements! He said he was going work his but off for the sport of bass fishing this year. A very genuine guy that will be a great ambassador for bass fishing. Congratulations to Randy Howell a real class act.

From what I was sent and read, he mainly used a prototype Livingston Lure, crankbait, crawfish color.  Also, I read he used a Rapala DT 6 in practice, but I know he said he used the DT6 today as well.

The livingston crank prototype was handed to him on media day and he only had the one in the boat that caught him all the winning fish.

Good story for Mr. Howell, seemed to be a real humble guy.  Great to see if public figures these days.

Based on the cruddy feed on the live take out footage, he said he used the DT6 in the red crawfish.   He even mentioned he wasn't sponsored by them and he caught most of his fish off of it.

This is what I heard as well, it definitely seemed that he used the DT6 for the vast majority of his bites.

I may be mistaken but I think he said he  caught a 6 lber on the Livingston.  But yes he caught several on the Rapala and the rest on the Livingston  both in red/orange craw color

yea, he caught early on the DT6.........but switch to the Livingston later when they moved off some and went to culling.

the 6# off the dock was caught on a chatterbait.

Well that was a surprise, sounds like he deserved it.  Last I checked in was earlier in the afternoon.  Congrats!

It doesn't matter to me.  It was an awesome comeback.  What a day for him.  How many of us have a spectacular day on the water and wished it was in a tournament?  He had the best fishing day of his life and it happened to be on championship Sunday at the Classic!!!!  I'm getting goosebumps typing this! LOL

Randy caught most of his fish on the riprap in Spring Creek. When we were there for the BassResource Roadtrip in 2012, we fished spring creek with limited success, maybe three fish, but we NEVER fished the riprap and the bridge pilings that day! Doh!
Later in the week ChrisatTech and I were going under the bridge at saulty creek (way north) and my Humminbird 1198 LIT UP with fish. We stopped and and caught a few, only because we didn't want to move in on another boat that had the "garden spot". We watched them pull in around two dozen bass in about a half hour!

Now I was on to a pattern! When the dam was pulling water it creates current and the bass stacked up at the bridges! Using that pattern I caught several the next day at another bridge (I forget the name of the creek, it is the first creek northwest of the dam). It was there we broke several crankbaits trying to sidearm cast under the low bridge! Easily our best day of the Guntersville Roadtrip!

Bridges have always been a hot spot at Guntersville. Bass and Crappie

After his first initial weigh-in to put him in the hot seat and all he said, I was a fan. I was rooting for him from that point on. He's got a new fan in me.

He's a fine example for the youth, better than they'll find in other sports!  Congrats to a classy winner

He fished the rip rap heading into spring creek on the final day to come from behind at the bridge. He said on saturday night he caught them there and his SI showed him just BALLS of bass stacked up on the rap.

I think this went very much like I predicted, the rain/mud sent the females back out deep, they just happened to be coming back when he got there.

They raffle his boat off, you can buy a ticket and it all goes to his charity. His boat is now worth a whole lot more. That was a great classic, I followed all day all three days. Would be awesome to win it, have enough money to put it away. What are the chances the classic winners boat was up for charity raffle?

I seem to recall that you fellows busted up a bunch of crankbaits on the pilings and rocks.
