I scored some Daiichi hooks for $2.50 / pack last week at Walmart, but didn't see any megadeals on rods.

Nothing big at my Wallyworld either. Picked up some Yamamato Super Grubs for $5, but that was it.

I scanned the vendettas at the a-town wally and they are $64. You can forget our local one since the manager doesn't know what a clearance price is

No Bucoos left at the one on Rt148.  The Jupiter, Vendetta and Skeet Reese rods are no longer on the shelf where they use to be.  They are all stuck in a corner an aisle away.  What a tangled mess.  One Vandetta was a flat black while another I checked had a different finish.  I assume different year models, but I know nothing about these rods.  I scanned the Jupiter and both the Vandettas.  Same price you got $64.  All were 6'6" Mediums...no 7' Mediums left.

I didn't see any lures, hooks, plastics or anything else on sale.  Tom, we live in the wrong part of the country...for more than one reason.  :teeth:

The newer vendettas are flat black while the shiny ones are the older.

I've been to other Walmarts in the country and must say the ones by the ocean have much better selections

Mine had a bunch of stuff marked down and then the next week even further. I was able to load up on terminal tackle, mustad trebles and got some stren fluorocast for leaders. Also a bucoo micro for 23.99. I noticed they now have red label fc and pp slick 8 on the shelves. Nothing else new that I saw though.

It must vary from store to store cuz I went to a different WalMart in the area and this one had no deals whatsoever on rods but a couple tables with Abu spinning/casting reels marked $10-$20 off.  The other night was the only time I've gotten in on the awesome WalMart sales I hear people talk about.  Maybe I was just in the right place at the right time.

The thing that sucks too is that Walmart won't even price match what their other stores are selling them for.

I went to my local Walmart and the Bucoos were on sale for $99 (not much of a sale). Everything else was red tagged for like $.10 off. I even saw a pack of chigger craws with a red tag for $3.50. What a joke!!!

Mine are still up there too. Wait and see game I guess. The Vendetta's did not go on sale until later on at my stores last year. A Falcon Bucoo for 20 bucks is a steal, so I will be patient.

I got some SK tungsten for 5 bucks a pack. Also got some 6 paks of KVD trebles for 5 bucks a pack. Rods were all about 15 bucks off. Did score a bunch of Bobmer squarebills for 2 bucks each.

My walmart had a tub of rods.  KVD quantum rods, Buccoos, speed sticks and vendettas.  KVD's were all 7'11 and like 90 bucks, the bucoo micro guides were at $99.  Speed sticks at 70 (many with broken guides) and 2nd generation vendettas for 65.  I did find a 6'6" 1st gen vendetta for 30 bucks and I snatched that up fast!  I needed a 6'6" rod and I like my 1st gen 7 foot vendetta I paid 100 for a couple years back.

Also picked up some xcalbur cranks for 5 (roughly a dollar off) and a plano spinnerbait box.  I'll have to check the other local walmart soon to see what they have and go back to see if the bucoos get reduced.

I've gotten some great deals on lures. I usually will check Walmart first for gear then head to the sporting good stores.

Hit a Walmart up in Williamsburg, VA this week, they had a lot of clearance stuff, but zilch on the rod deals. Buccos were $99, Vendettas (flat black) were $99, I think...

Anyhow, I did score a Plano bump board for $7, and a Plano Hydro Flo 360 size box for $5. Both on clearance, decent drops. But that's all I found interesting.

BPS rod trade-in here I come.

I checked 3 walmarts and the only deal was one had soft plano tackle bags marked down from $42 to $15 :Victory: . No other real deals to speak of.

Mine has been basically throwing stuff away for months. They cleared out all their Gammy EWG hooks (my favorite) for 50 cents a 5 pack and I bought most of them. Picked up two more Vendettas for $30 each, maybe have to go get one more... And for the hefty price of a single buck each I picked up some Rat L Traps, Powerbait plastics, 3-packs of Storm soft swimbaits, SK Red-Eye Special spinnerbaits, VMC dropshot hooks, some SK Bitsy Minnows...  Anyone need about 200 Rapala SR-8's in Silver? $3 each, and probably going lower... my local Walmart wants their clearance gone like last week, I love it.

Hey Jolly sorry to hear you bought some Vendettas at walmart. Make sure you keep that receipt. My friend was in the store testing out some rods and started bending the Vendetta, barely flexed it and had it snap on him. He ended up buying a 17 dollar shakespear which he was able to completely bend almost into a u shape with force and it did not break.

Hope those Vendettas are better than the one he snapped.

Oh yeah, I always keep those receipts.  I hear you, I'm not impressed at all with Walmart's general rod storage practices, but I picked these up literally as they were on their way to the Garbage Can O' Bargain Rods, so at least they weren't banging around loose with a bunch of Ugly Stiks for a week.  I bought a Vendetta there last year and have had no problems at all with it.  Even at Gander or some more reputable retailer where you'd think they are handled a little more carefully, I always check a rod over carefully for minute damage that could lead to bigger problems later. Seen more than one pair of kids having sword fights in the aisles...

Speaking of that, at Walmart there were some kids playing with the fishing poles banging them around. The walmart employee had to ask them if they were going to buy them. The kids kind of got the hint so they set them down and walked away.
