Where did you get the number 7? Not being a smart arse. If I'm flipping I bring 3 if I'm bed fishing I bring 3-4 If I'm fishing deep I bring 5. It really depends what techniques you or the boater or vice versa are doing.

Rod/reel brands are a personal preference thing, but If I were buying new rods and reels, I would get Quantum EXO's and Smokes and probably *** *** rods.

What 7 rods and reels should I have for fishing tournaments?

Are you fishing 1 or 2 day tourneys? Also, do you draw partners or do you stay with the same one?

You probably won't need 7 rods then. Going through the prefishing process, you should have something dialed in before the tournament starts. Knowing that, you can probably limit yourself to 5. In a pinch, you can make a rod work for a technique for a day if you need to.

Pig, you can't have the same rods and reels for each fishing adventure.

There are too many variables to take into consideration when selecting your rods and reels.

May I suggest you take your favorite setups for the techniques you will be throwing along with two extra baitcasters and two extra spinning reels to change out if necessary.

Seven setups on another guy's boat would be too many. If its your own then stuff them in the locker and go for it.

I been using five rod setups from shore. The longer rods to cast out farther with heavier line test for topwater action, carolina rig rod heavier line test, crankbait rod setup,  spinnerbaits rod med act 6',  & light/med act setup for smaller spin fly &inline spinner.

Choosing the correct line test is a factor for the best lure action.

Sweet! Did you get it from TW? They are have 25% off of Omens right now. I'm gonna upgrade my rods in the near future and am doing my homework on them now. I had my mind set on Dobyns Champions and Xtremes, but I keep hearing about *** ***'s and how excellent they are. I'm gonna probably get a spinning rod and a jerkbait rod to try out first before I load up on them. I hope they surpass my expectations.

Nice. Keep us updated with a review between the dobyns and ***.

I believe people buy the name not the rod, Dobyns is good but i would price the champion around the 190$ mark. I cant say anything for the extremes but i i will keep you up to date on which i like.

tight lines.

The name is everything to a bunch of people. lol. They think if they're not fishing JDM rods and reels and throw nothing but $25 lures they cant catch fish.
