Hey guys, I am getting a new unit very soon and was looking at the Lowrance 7 HDI and the Lowrance 7x HDI. My question is, is the gps really worth the extra $150? I will be fishing local lakes around the state that I know fairly well, but dont wanna make the wrong choice for gps. So is it worth it? Thanks

Yes! I made the mistake of getting the x and I'm kicking myself for it. The X can't store waypoints, and you can't load maps or updates.

I love my Elite 7 I wouldnt go without the GPS though. Depends what you plan on using the unit for exactly if you have another unit in the boat with gps or not.

The first time I used a gps it was very foggy and I had 4 miles to go to where I wanted to fish. The gps took me right into the mouth of the cove that I wanted. I have not been without one since and don't ever plan to be. So yes get the one with gps.

I have also used GPS in the fog and I also recorded a trail to navigate rapids to show me were the channel is yes it's well worth the extra money.
