bkohlman Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 What bait or tackle item did you have the greatest feeling of anticipation before you used it? Tell us about one that met your expectations and one that flopped. For me the Cavitron Buzzbait met my expectations greatly, and flukes have not. Quote
FishinCop646 Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 After 2 months of being on back order my Troll Eze Tray shipped today! I can't wait for it to get here. Quote
Got1Fishing Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 Missile Baits D Bomb... I bought those while it was "cold" here in NC and I couldn't wait any longer so I went fishing in 40 degree weather to try them out. It was the only bait I caught fish on that day... I tried Senkos and Rage Craws, but nothing seem to get hits except that D Bomb. I can't wait for the water to start warming up here in NC to try out a ton of Missile Baits with good weather. 1 Quote
McAlpine Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 Megabass 110. Having the anticipation now, still haven't thrown one. Quote
fishinthedacks Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 honestly my best working bait of last season was pumpkin seed bass bustin baits lizards. Unreal, and I got way more than what I had expected. Let down last year was a rapala crank bait cant remember which one without looking but tossed it 5-6 dif trips last year and caught me nothing when all my other cranks seemed to be nailining em in the same spot. Have to get out my spare tackle box to see which it was. Waste of 10.99 Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted February 21, 2014 Super User Posted February 21, 2014 I don't know if this bait meets, exceeds, or fails to live up to my expectations.........but it just drives me nuts. #1 it catches fish, #2 it's affordable, but #3.............once the stock hooks and/or split rings are trash, which is usually after 2 fish, I might as well toss the whole bait in the garbage, as I can NOT find hooks/rings that will keep this thing suspending.....It's gotten so I would rather have them slow float then use bits of suspend dots to make them suspend....but even that is a guessing game, some take a full dot, some take a have a dot, some take a booger from the left nostrile, some take a boat anchor..........I almost want to give up on them.............but they catch fish LOL...... I am talking about the Luck-e-strike STX CLunn jerkbaits. Quote
Super User BassinLou Posted February 21, 2014 Super User Posted February 21, 2014 When LiveTarget first came out with their frogs right after ICAST I was very excited to get my hands on one. When I did it did not disappoint what so ever. However, a little while after another ICAST, the Live Target Mouse was introduced. I was excited to get my hands on one of those as well. That bait disappointed me. The mice do not nearly hold up as well as the frogs do. Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted February 21, 2014 Super User Posted February 21, 2014 I've purchased some smaller swimbaits and wakebaits that I'm excited to try out this season. My flop bait would have to be a jerkbait. It just doesn't produce for me. Quote
96ecss Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 One that met my expectations was the Lucky Craft Pointer 100. Bought them for the first time in January 2012. Couldn't wait to try them. They did not disappoint. I've caught my biggest bass on them the last 2 years and I can't wait to fish them again this year. Dave Quote
Super User buzzed bait Posted February 21, 2014 Super User Posted February 21, 2014 absolutely love my r2s s-wavers flop for me would be scatter rap, just weak all around for me 1 Quote
annexation Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 I was so geeked a couple years back to get the Alabama Rig; the prospect of nailing two fish in one go was very enticing. I dropped over twenty bucks for the A-Rig and never caught a single fish on it. It was very disappointing, but then, I was very new to fishing, also. I was throwing it on some pretty lousy gear to boot - it's been shelved for over two seasons. I ought to bust it out and give it a try again this season, this time on a more appropriate setup. Quote
