Pz3 Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 I have been eye screwing this Quantum KVD baitcaster. Since I seen it in stores..... http://www.walmart.com/ip/Quantum-KVD-Baitcast-Combo/22172335 Anyone here tried it out yet? Curious as to how good its holding up. Sure looks good! Quote
tbone1993 Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 The kvd quatum reels (all levels) are awful. Thats why most places are clearing them out. I got a $150 rod for $40 bucks. I like it for the price but if I paid $150 I would take them both back. Quote
Super User MCS Posted February 19, 2014 Super User Posted February 19, 2014 No no no tbone they are closing out those models. The kvds on sale are from what I hear very good. Quantum updated the line up so they are on sale. I think A-Jay has some of the rods and reels, KVD tour. I picked me up an energy when the closed out the four for the new orange model. It is an awesome reel. They do have a new KVD team out too. Now I dunno if I would grab that one, mag brakes. I have used and hear the ACS is where it is at and I tend to agree Quote

It does look good and the new ones look even better. All red and black...But I like the ones i usrd so far and hear from others too the ACS brakes are better than the mag. The accurist I have heard is pretty good and the offer a combo. If you like white. The catalyst is the comparable ACS reel. Also if you look on ebay you can find the older accurist and kinetics that are the silver and red for about $60. I also found nice rod for $60 shipped to match that price. Quote
Super User MCS Posted February 19, 2014 Super User Posted February 19, 2014 I stop In there every once and awhile never even knew they sold Quantum. Always see tons of Abu and Falcon. I only noticed the butt load of $20 quantum rods never seen any other models in store. Now online I have seen deals on smokes right now they have the bigger smoke that goes 219 for 179 or 189 before that they had the 100 model smoke for 159 Quote
Pz3 Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 I like that accurist too. Having gone through Penn, diawa, quantum, abu, shakespear spinning reels..... spinning just isn't cutting it for me anymore. I miss baitcasting. Its everyones fault here on BassResource! Quote

Didnt realize they put those out. Quote
Stingray23 Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Whay would you say they are junk? I have the same year TE equivalent and they are the furthest thing from junk. Quote
dam0007 Posted February 19, 2014 Author Posted February 19, 2014 Own Accurist spinning combo prob best $70 combo you could get in spinning. Have the Accurist bc reel on my frog rod, works pretty good. Have no idea about the kvd, tour etc. just being the messenger on the deal he got. Quote

black94gt50 Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 The Quantum Energy PT was smooth and owned it for awhile. I wouldn't say they were all junk. Some people believe if it isn't a dang 250$ reel and 300$ rod that's it's all junk. I've fished with cheaper bps reels in the past and while they aren't nice by any means, that's all that could be afforded at the time. I have nicer stuff now, but sometimes something on sale is a good way for some that are less fortunate to get some good gear. Quote
coak Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 Only suckers pay full price without checking sales first!!!! 1 Quote

That rod is the same blank as the quantum response, which can be found at gander Quote
