onefinalcast Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Has anyone used Lowrance's new Mark/Elite 4 series with HDI? I know it was just announced in December and just released last month in January. I've been looking for a fishfinder and was going to go with a Mark 4 with just sonar and gps, but I did really want down imaging as well. Then I stumbled upon the new HDI series and it seems like quite a bit of technology for a decent price ($229/$299). It has all three features that I want but was wondering if anyone had hands on experience yet? Also, while I'm on the topic and don't want to create a separate thread, can anyone tell me if this is the type of battery I would need to use for a fishfinder? It is from BPS (the 12V/7.5 Amp version). This is my first time installing/using one and it will be installed on my new kayak so I just want to be sure I am getting the right items. http://www.basspro.com/RedHead-Rechargeable-Batteries/product/49382/ Thanks guys. nyghtryder_9 Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 I have the elite 7 hdi which is basically the 4's big brother for my main. Great unit and pretty simple to understand and use. I had to get the hot maps lake chip for my area and it is well worth it. I can imagine that on the 4 the only downside would be the screen size when viewing all 3 features at once ( gps, sonar, downimaging ). but you won't be disappointed As far as battery I would think that it should work for you, but I'm not 100% sure. onefinalcast Posted February 18, 2014 Author Posted February 18, 2014 I am not sure if both models come with the 3-pane splitscreen. I think only the Elite-4 HDI, not the Mark-4 HDI. You are probably right that it would be hard to view anyway. Also, that seems to be the only difference between the Elite and the Mark, the Elite has color and the 3 pane splitscreen. Quote

onefinalcast Posted February 27, 2014 Author Posted February 27, 2014 I too am still waiting for a review/word from him to see how he liked it. Hope he remembers to chime in. Quote
Yakin4bass Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 I went to bass pro today to get the elite 4 HDI but it was out of stock. From what I see online there on back order every where I look. Quote
AJenkins Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 Hey Guys! Sorry for the late Response. I've only had one chance to take it out. Its def a step up from your traditional fish finder. The structure detail is really cool. I wont lie I would like to take a class on how to read it.. (meaning like what the fish look like). Its very easy to read the Hard and soft bottoms. I think the 5 and 7 would be very nice also, That would be my only complaint on the unit is the size. But for the Price tag of $199 at Bass Pro, I can live with that. Quote
03sp500 Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 I too couldn't find any in the normal stores. I did find one at Gander Mountain the elite 4 HDI, a sun cover, and lakes insight pro sd card for 299. It should be here Wednesday so I'll let everyone know what it looks like. its very different from the earlier models of Elite 4 series Quote
Yakin4bass Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 I ordered one from basspro so once they get the shipment in they will send it out. What would be the best kind of battery to use on it in a kayak? Looking for small and affordable, any suggestions? Quote
Super User Felix77 Posted March 9, 2014 Super User Posted March 9, 2014 Just spend over 20 minutes messing with this at BPS yesterday. It's definitely going on my new Ride 115x. The screen is a bit larger than the X4 and it's extremely user friendly. Seems to have all you would need. Quote
onefinalcast Posted March 11, 2014 Author Posted March 11, 2014 This is awesome news guys. I have yet to see one in person still but from reviews it is sounding really good! Post more reviews when you guys use them! Quote
FATYAKKER Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 I think this is a video posted on this site showing the fishfinder your talking about?? Posted a link. It looks like a good unit for the money. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-videos/elite-series-fish-finders.html Quote
onefinalcast Posted March 11, 2014 Author Posted March 11, 2014 I believe that video was on the previous generation of the Elite-4 models. The newer ones just came out this year in January and are the HDI models. Thanks though! Quote
Yakin4bass Posted March 14, 2014 Posted March 14, 2014 I just got mine in today hope to try it out Sunday if the weather hold out. Quote
