Which would you pick of the two for an all around rod, Duckett ghost or St.Croix mojo bass

Posted

I never fished the duckett so everything would be a trial period. I have fished the mojo and have faith it it so 9/10 i would pick up the mojo.  If I were a new buyer I would try out the duckett if the warranty is the same as the croix.

Mojo has more options and a 5 year warranty, it's average in the sensitivity department.

Ghost, still new, jury is still out, 1 year warranty

I love my mojo bass drop shot rod. Don't have any experience with the Duckett rods.

Would be interested to hear what people think about the action of the Ghost rods...The Ducket rods I have owned (all broken now) have been pretty moderate action and great backbone, which I loved for certain things. I would probably pick one up if they have that same, not-so-fast action as the Micro/Macro Magics.

I would have no reservations about either rods, The mojo will be a little heavier rod, with a better warranty, plenty sensitive, the duckett will be a lighter better balanced rod, probably more sensitive, but only backed with a 1 year warranty. personally I would go with the mojo, i like all of the ones I have.

I have a ghost, but I havent been able to fish with it yet. My father has a Mojo which I have used, and I didnt like it. To me it felt stiff and very tip heavy with an Abu Orra sx on it. With the same reel, the Ghost is much less tip heavy and feels alot lighter. Thats how they compare to me anyway.

I'm probably going to buy the 6'8" medium extra fast Mojo for small finesse jigs. As some people have already said the Mojos are a tad heavier than their rating, but I feel good about a heavier medium blank with an extra fast tip. Bang for the buck and durability are also major factors of consideration for me.

IMO they are two different animals. I have only used my Ghost once so I can't comment on them long term. I have the 7' H mojo and it feels much heavier and stiffer than my 7'3" H Ghost. I really like the feel of the Ghost rods. First tourney is this Sat so I will know more after a day on the water with them.

Never fished Dukett. There are better options than the Mojo in that price range

I have the 6'8 M/XF spinning rod (wacky style) and wouldn't trade it for anything. I just don't like the guides on the new Duckett, but it is a nice rod regardless.

Local rod builder said he fixes more duckett rods than anything else. They just fall apart.

In my opinion , stick with St. Croix.... You're money will be will spent! Duckett rods.... You're money is lost... I have seen the white rods break 10 to 1 over Croix... I am not saying the mojo is bullet proof... However you will have a good rod that really should work very well at that cost.

Good luck!

Very nice stick for the price imo

Although I haven't fished a Duckett, I can say the Mojo's are nice rods and I doubt you'd be disappointed! Not to mention, they've got a 5 year warranty vs a 1 year you get with the Duckett.

I'm picking mine up tomorrow at the Spring classic. Trading in a 20 year old Zebco beater for $20 off a Mojo... Priceless.

I own 2 of the micro magics and was thinking about picking up a ghost when they came out, but after seeing they aren't backed by the 20 year warranty (only 1yr) plus with all the cost cutting features of no cork and insert less guides just didn't seem worth it to me for the price/warranty difference... instead I would rather pay a little extra and order another micro magic.
