This is something i would like to brush up on. I do know how to use a jerkbait but do not feel confident using one. I know people crush smallies on jerk baits where i live in the spring season. I just cant seem to do well with them. Am i using the wrong colors i usally go with a french pearl rick clunn jerkbait or a rapala x rap in shad color. what is the best techniques or how long between pauses? Feel free to throw in your imput.

I always hate it when someone asks a legitimate question and it is answered with "did you use the search feature" but dude there must be at least half a dozen threads that are either ongoing or have taken place just recently on jerkbaits, read through them and if you still have questions fire away.

Please don't take this as a criticism....it isn't. I just don't believe there's anything, pertaining to fishing, that isn't pinned to a forum, or an article at the top here, on BR. That shouldn't preclude anyone from asking a question however. Otherwise, there wouldn't be as much interest in BR as there is. There is no final word or opinion on any facet of fishing, except that fish do hang out IN the water....not in the trees, as we sometime might think they do, during those occasions when the bite becomes really difficult! :)

Besides, whatever is written down; that is only a snapshot in time. Extremely valuable snapshots, but none the less, they can (and maybe should be) changing. So, personally, I have no problem with anyone asking question, which have previously been covered. If for no other reason than to re-enforce the previously written words. Just my opinion folks. :)

To expand on what's been said, I didn't send you to that link to be a jerk.  I realize that you're new here and probably overlooked it. There are some of the most informative posts and article reads among this site that I have ever read.  I've learned more in 1 year of being a part of this community than I had in 10 years of "figuring" it out myself.  At this point, I feel I am light years above where I would be, had I never taken the time to read through the info posted here.

Grab a drink and some snacks and start reading.  Once you still can't find an answer, just ask.  In time you will know which reads are based off hard facts and water time, and which are merely just "opinions".

Tight lines!

Mark hit it on the head. I've learned more in a year than the first 10 or so.

Of all the baits I fish for bass with the ol Jerk bait is my nemisis!!! Not that I haven't had a couple decent days (easy to remember as I've only had a couple). It's gotta be a timing thing for me and I need to put more in. I just love to many other baits. Guess I need to leave those other baits home. :)

Of all the lures that I have launched in trees... :cry4: You would think they do.
