Bavass Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Hello I am new to the site but not new to forums. My name is Andy I live in Lynchburg, Va. I have been out of fishing for many years. Years ago I did right much Fly Fishing for Trout and some Bass Fishing. My wife's parents got a place at Smith Mt Lake this past fall. YAY! I will be spending many weekends there and I want to get back into fishing I have missed it and every year I say I am going to start again. I am looking forward to many weekends with my son, his grandaddy, Michelob, and some fishing poles. I am going to start another thread on what equipment I should look at getting, mid-range price wise. What suggestions people have as far as Rod & Reels to get. I have some old stuff and I think I want some new stuff to start with. I have plenty of Tackle. I am just so far out of the loop for whats what and how, etc.... I know nothing about the new reels, rods etc... so any help anybody can give would greatly be appreciated. Quote

Super User Sam Posted February 22, 2014 Super User Posted February 22, 2014 Great having you with us. Glad you joined the Forum. SML is a vast body of water with just about ever cover and structure known to man. You will have a fun time fishing for both smallies and largemouths with various techniques and baits throughout the year. Can you add where you are on SML to your avatar and where you will be blasting off. The lake is so big you could blast off by the State Park and not go more than five miles in either direction. Quote
