SpinnerbaitSlinger Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Has anyone ever done the BPS trade in? Are there any limitations? Discrepancies? Quote
Super User lmbfisherman Posted February 18, 2014 Super User Posted February 18, 2014 I haven't done the rod trade in yet, but I have done the reel trade in. As long as they work, they will take it. I took some old Shimano reels I had hanging around (very low end) and no problems. I can't see the rod being an issue as long as it's not dinged up or missing guides. But in the end it's for charity so, I'm pretty sure my conscious wouldn't allow me to give up a non working/broken item anyway. Quote
Super User Felix77 Posted February 18, 2014 Super User Posted February 18, 2014 I intend to trade in a bunch of stuff this year just because it's for charity. Anything I get will be better than the rods and reels sitting in my closet doing nothing. Quote
tdown1207 Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 I have ner heard of this trade in deal how does it work? Do you trade in old rods and reels and and get credit towards new ones? Quote

You trade in the rods and reels you want to get rid of...they will hand you a coupon the is good for the following off depending on price: $5 - $30-48.99 $10 - $49-74.99 $15 - $75-99.99 $20 - $100-119.99 $25 - $120-159.99 $30 - $160-199.99 $40 - $200-249.99 $50 - $250-499.99 $100 - $500 and up Quote

Super User Felix77 Posted February 18, 2014 Super User Posted February 18, 2014 What are you planning to get? Not quite sure yet. I need a rod dedicated to fishing "Walk the Dog" baits. Still debating what I will buy. Quote
Super User MarkH024 Posted February 18, 2014 Super User Posted February 18, 2014 As long as what you turn in is functional, they will accept it. I traded in a couple junk Shakespeare stuff from over a decade ago and credited it towards $150-$200 rods and reels at the time. If you got stuff laying in a corner never being touched, this is the perfect opportunity to put it to good use. Quote
Super User WIGuide Posted February 18, 2014 Super User Posted February 18, 2014 Never done the rod trade in but I've done the reel trade in before. Just a heads up though, if you're thinking about buying anything Shimano at a discount, think again. They choose to not back the program, which is stupid considering it doesn't cost them anything Quote

SpinnerbaitSlinger Posted February 18, 2014 Author Posted February 18, 2014 If I were to bring in three or four items would the discounts add up or no? Quote
Super User WIGuide Posted February 18, 2014 Super User Posted February 18, 2014 Maybe, or maybe they finally decided to get with the program. It's been a few years since I did it so maybe things changed, but before they even had it in the flyers. Quote

Super User WIGuide Posted February 18, 2014 Super User Posted February 18, 2014 The rod trade in maybe, but they started the reel trade in before that. Quote
Super User *Hootie Posted February 18, 2014 Super User Posted February 18, 2014 Interesting, I got a Chronarch E last year during the trade in. Maybe depends on the local retail store? Yes, Shimano is participating, for the third consecutive year. Hootie Quote

rmcguirk Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 At least at my local store, they'll even sell you a reel for $5 that you can then use as your trade in. If you're buying something higher end, it makes economic sense to do so. Quote
HomersTomaco Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Yea Shimano started doing it a few years back. Too bad the new curados won't be out by then.... Or maybe they will be? Of you are lucky enough to have two bass pros near you it's worth a little bit longer drive to go to a bigger one that has a lot more in stock. Quote
OnthePotomac Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 I just received an email from our BPS north of Richmond and they "hope" to have the new Curados in time. Quote
black94gt50 Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 The salesman at kodak bps in tn told me last Saturday that they already had a big order of the new curados in and sitting in the back. Now if that true or not idk, just what he told me. Quote
