Best Swim Jig, And How To Fish It?

I fish all different kinds of baits, and enjoy them all but one thing i'm lacking is swim jigs. I can honestly say i have never fished one. i wanna hear all anyone has to offer.

Brovarneys is my favorite swim jig. you will get a lot of different opinions on the northern swim jig vs california swim jig.

I have fished many different brands and my favorite is dirty jigs. Their California swim jig is good for bigger bites and their regular swim jig is phenomenal as well.

Siebert or Northstar  has great  swim jigs.  Northstar has been out of commission for a while tho.  He posted on Facebook that he is fixing to be up and running again!

My favorite is the Dirty Jigs Coosa River style. It comes with a nice Mustad hook and it's available in a lot of colors that work really well in my area. Also a shop here in AL has a deal worked out with Dirty Jigs and buys custom Coosa River style heads with the No Jack hooks. These are the absolute best swim jigs I've fished to date. Although I do still fish the regular swim jig quite a bit and I've never bent the Mustad hook.  

 

The only mods I do is to trim the weedguard the way I like it and tie the skirts on with braid.

4x4 swim jigs are the best i've used and i've tried almost all of them.  90% of the time i either have a 5" kalins on the back or a skinny dipper.

Here's a pic showing the two different hooks. The No Jack Gamakatsu is on the left and the regular Mustad on the right. It really doesn't show just how much thicker the No Jack hook is but trust me it's much beefier.

I'm a fan of what I guess is the northern style swim jig.  I like a swim jig with a sharp, round bend hook that isn't too stout, a thin hand tied skirt with the inner layer trimmed away completely, a bullet head, a thin weedguard and grub trailer.  I throw 1/4oz or 3/8oz 99% of the time.  I like the Brovarney swim jigs a lot but I make my own now.

Used to be Davis but net bait bought them out. I throw the 1/4 ounce paca swim jig with either a zoom fluke junior trailer a gambler flapping shad (I think) or a zoom ultra vibe speed craw. Color doesn't matter as long as it's chartreuse and white. It's amazed me the places I've caught bass swimming a jig.

5/16 and 3/8 are the two I fish the most. 1/4 and 1/2 when conditions dictate and ever so often I'll throw a 3/4.

I like the Terminator swim jigs in 1/4 and 3/8 oz. One of the best ways to fish them is just like a spinnerbait. I just think of it as a more finesse and maybe more natural presentation, so if I can't get bit on my normal blades I'll switch it up and throw a swim jig

I use two different kinds of swim jigs, I like the strike king tour grade, and I do my own custom jigs as well. I like the 1/2 oz, but early in the year the 1/4 is also a good bet...

i know i know. ha i still have a good supply or NorthStar SwimJigs and when i realized i didnt have a white SwimJig i added it with my Seibert Order. Bloody Shad i believe its called after hearing some good feedback on that color.

Lethal Weapon II and the Brovarney swim jigs are good.  

 

1/4 oz.  Thats my money size.

 

I like the Outkast ones too, but I need to trim the skirt more than my liking.

 

I have found that I miss a lot of hookups with the beefier weedguard.  I started trimming mine and throwing different jigs and I found that a pretty light weedguard is still pretty weedless when it balances well, even over weeds.

I've been using All-Terrain swim jigs for about 10 years. I really like them. However , after hearing all the members accolades for Siebert jigs, my next order will be with them. My problem is, I know what I want to order with All-Terrain and I've been on the Siebert website. I want the same style I've been using and need to match it to the Siebert line up.

Same here, heard alot of good things about it so I ordered it. Then the Bait Monkey possesed me   and ended up ordering a bunch of other items.

whatever jig is tied onto my jig rod, at the time I decide swimming a jig would be more effective.  I swim jigs all the time, but I don't own a "swimjig" as some define.
