coots Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 Hey guys, This is going to be mine and dads first year going to the Classic. At first we was like, man... we live 5 minutes from the place these guys are fishing but to only have to drive 2 1/2 hours to go see them weigh-in... WE'RE OUT! As it has gotten closer and all the talk around the bait shops and breakfast table has heated up, we're excited for it. So I have a couple questions about this whole deal. 1. If we were to go watch them on Saturday fishing, what is the appropriate rules for watching these guys fish? I mean I know the obvious, I wouldn't even be touching a fishing pole while they are out there, but what is the appropriate distances for people that watch like to stay from their boats while they fish? 2. We have talked ourselves into going and watching the weigh-in on Sunday... is the EXPO really worth going down early for? If so, what is past experiences at the EXPO? You enjoyed it etc? Thanks guys! Hey bud, I have actually watched Pros fish on the Potomac. I kept at least 10 boat lengths away from there, and didn't take any pics or video(not sure if that's allowed or not). Expo is really kool, my daughter enjoyed it and got some free stuff. Probably you do not want to spend your whole day at the Expo, because there isn't too much to do there. Have fun. Quote

I figured if we decide to go down to the EXPO, it opens at 10 I think, the weigh in doors open at 3.... might try to do the EXPO around 12:30 or so... give us a couple hours to hang out there and whatnot. Then walk over for the weigh-in. Quote
Jd_Phillips_Fishin Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 my dad will be there at the expo with Britt Myers, you can by stuff and get free stuff too. For watching on the water stay about 60-70 yards away, and have fun! i wish i could go Quote
gripnrip Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 I can't help you with watching them on the water. I do know however when fishing, keeping about 100 yards between boats is good. Now on to the Expo. YES it is worth going! If you get there when they open it, some of the vendors will be handing out free goodies. I would suggest taking a bag to carry the free stuff. It is basically a big tackle show. Take plenty of money to purchase tackle. When I bought tackle or rods, I'd hit them up for hats and stickers. It was a total blast! Quote
Rangerphil Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Defintely worth going early! When they were in Pittsburgh it was a blast and can also talk to alot of pros and get some great info. As for going on the water I would stay back a reasonable distance and if the guy you are watching is in somewhere tight like a cove or around docks stay back even further. Have fun! Quote
