SudoomFisher Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 Iaconelli was really hinting at this lure for catching the fish on the Red River at his weigh in. Think he is trying to just live up to his sponsorship or do you think he really likes it? Would anyone else try it based on this now? Quote
Super User Micro Posted February 20, 2009 Super User Posted February 20, 2009 The lures themselves actually look pretty nice. But I think the light thingy is a gimmick. Quote
Jake. Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 The lures themselves actually look pretty nice. But I think the light thingy is a gimmick. x2 And, I'll believe thet they were using them when I see the footage. Quote
senko_77 Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 The lures themselves actually look pretty nice. But I think the light thingy is a gimmick. I assure you, it ain't. Give the bait a try. I think you will like what you catch. Quote
mtnbasser Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 I don't know if it is a gimmick or not but, there web site hits on the point that fish chase lasers similar to the way dogs do and major aquariums won't allow lasers inside the fish area for this reason, me and my family went to the aquarium in gatlinburg Tennessee and I had to see if it was true and it is NO lasers allowed there is a little reasoning next to the sign they claim the fish will injure themselves chasing the laser. Maybe there is something to this lure. Quote
indy basser Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 For all those that doubt the laserlure, go to Bassmaster.com and read the article about boyd duckett, the guy leading the Classic. Find the 1 line in there about what he was doing today and tell me what it says. Quote
mattm Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 I thought it was a gimmick until Senko came out in support. I'm even more convinced after Ike's and Duckett's showing. They are the only two guys in the tournament sponsored by them and look where they are. Quote
SudoomFisher Posted February 21, 2009 Author Posted February 21, 2009 I don't know if a lot of guys were able to listen to or watch the weigh in but I thought what Ike said was funny. It went something like, "yea me and duckett both got this speacial bait, I don't really want to go into it, its a special little crankbait we're throwing." But then in big letters on his jersey is LASER LURE made me laugh at least Quote
indy basser Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 Hey Glen, Did the topic of Laser Lure come up with Ike on Wednesday? I would love to know what he said about it off camera. Or was he throwing 1? Any input would be great. Quote
Dixon Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 Ive used the red popper before and its deadly close to dark when bass are hitting topwater. The lure cost 20 dollars. My laser light has went out in my popper so now its just a normal bait. Quote

My laser light has went out in my popper so now its just a normal bait. About how long does it take to go out you think? You'd think for 20 dollars you'd be able to at least have a way to keep the flash since thats the main selling point on the lure. Quote
bmadd Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 On their website they claim it lasts for 80 hours of fishing. They look like nice lures even without the laser flash. Quote
senko_77 Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 The lure has Lucky Craft quality so when the light goes out, you have a real nice bait. They are absolutely worth the money IMO. Like someone said before, the blinking popper early morning or late in the day is just stupid awesome. The fish kill it. Quote
-nick- Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 Dang it now thats something else I'm going to have to try out. There goes another 40 dollars! Quote
BUCKEYEone Posted February 21, 2009 Posted February 21, 2009 I've told my self since the first time I saw the laserlure that it was a gimmick. You know what they say "if it looks like a gimmick, is advertised like a gimmick....it may win the 2009 Classic!?" Maybe that will be there new slogan! Quote
Bubba_Bruiser Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 I don't know, might be joining the ranks with Mr. Martin's products. It will prpably be advertised to hurry up and get, it is already illegal in 65 states and most tournaments. Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 2 pages worth, looks like Ikes sponsors got their money's worth! I played with this idea a few yrs ago during the spawn. Trying to tick off bedding fish with the laser pointer I torment my cat with. No such luck, it didn't exist as far as the fish were concerned. Quote
Bassaholic84 Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 You know NGC sports came out with a crank like this a couple years ago. I never believed it but my buddy bought three of them. We were out fishing and he was catching fish on them. I wouldnt say his catches improved but he was catching them. The NGC sports cranks just have a little blinking light on the side. These ones are much better quality then those. Who knows if the laser is attracting them or just the crank. Quote
Lauren Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 [tt]I think I am going to test the theory of the laser lure and see if it works. I am going to try to find similar lure so that only the difference is the laser.[/tt] Quote
mattm Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 You could buy two and just break the light in one of them. Then you have the exact same bait. Quote
Super User Sam Posted February 22, 2009 Super User Posted February 22, 2009 I researched the bait and came to the conclusion that it would work very well in heavily stained or dirty water. The information did not say the lure would work better in clear or stained water. But if Senko_77 says it is a good bait, then it is a good bait. Do not know if I will get one or two until I read more about this bait so you guys go out, buy a few, and please post your results based on water clarity and fishing conditions. Thanks. Quote
mattm Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 Ike just caught a 4 and a half pounder in his last few minutes of fishing. Giving him a cushion over Skeet. Skeet still has a about an hour to cull though. If Skeet can't put a couple of 4 lbers in the boat watch out for the next senko, chatterbait and sexy shad craze all rolled into one. I'm glad I talked myself into getting 12 of these 3 or 4 days ago. Might be able to make a little money. Quote
Still a Bigbuckifan Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 These flat out catch fish. These guys came out to the barramundi farm that I go to and they hooked me and some friends up with some freebies. These lures sound to good to be true but there really not and I would not be surprised if they really did get baned from tournaments. The first time i fished with these I was catching fish on a dt4 so i decided to try one of these out. When i tied on the laser lure i threw it in the water right next my john boat while i put up the dt4 and a fish nailed the bait 2 feet away from the boat while it was just siting there. Also wait till you see there rattle trap bait it is mean looking. I just looked on the website and they have pics of when they were at the fish farm. Quote
fishizzle Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 if you were on your lounge chair and someone was shining a laser pointer at you, wouldn't you attack them?? ;D Quote
Primus Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 They hooked me, I just bought 5 today. 1 Popper, 2 shallow cranks & 2 deep cranks. Quote
