Remington Coming To Alabama

The Governor of Alabama is expected to confirm rumors tomorrow that Remington will open a plant in Huntsville and possibly employ up to 2,000 people. I've heard they are scaling back the New York plant, closing it down all together, or keeping it as is. Either way this is big news for the Huntsville and surrounding area. Lawrence County recently lost a huge employer so hopefully some of those folks may be able to find work with Remington. The details should be out tomorrow.

That's great news the politicians with these new guns laws are driving the jobs at the gun manufacturers out of state.  Ny with its 7 shot mags only.

The 7 shot mag limit was over turned last I heard but the rest still stands. I'm glad Remington left NY. Yeah sucks because it's a loss of jobs but why give a state money that hates your business. Our governor is ruining this state in a hurry.

I believe they are going to renovate the old Chrysler building in Huntsville. I may have the name of the building wrong though. They have partnered with local colleges to begin training the workforce to meet their needs. Probably still at least a year out before anything significant happens as far as hiring and putting people to work other than construction folks.

Apparently the Freedom Group is no more and is now called Remington Outdoor Company or something similar. Anyway, they will be moving Bushmaster and the Remington 1911 Pistol lines to the new Huntsville plant and maybe several others as well. Huntsville may very well become the main plant for most of Remington's products. Multiple plants being consolidated and moved to Huntsville location...

 

ROC’s spokesperson, Teddy Novin, also announced ROC is in the process of consolidating “multiple company plants into our Huntsville, Alabama facility. This was a strategic business decision to concentrate our resources into fewer locations and improve manufacturing efficiency and quality. We are working hard to retain as many from the affected facilities as possible.” The companies being relocated are: Advanced Armament Corp, Lawrenceville, Georgia; Montana Rifleman, Kalispell, Montana; TAPCO, Kennesaw, Georgia; LAR Manufacturing, West Jordan, Utah; 
Para-Ordnance, Pineville, North Carolina; and DPMS, St. Cloud, Minnesota.

As construction folk. I extremely like the idea of them moving down here. That's right in line with the work our contractors do. Plus you end up with expansions and maintenance work too.

This is good news, considering the nearby pulp mill was shut down last winter.

Local TV station has been snooping around about other gun manufactures moving to Madison County and turned up a little something. A Madison County Commissioner confirmed there had been talks with several manufactures but no deals were in place. The reporter contacted several but they said there were no plans for relocation at this time. However, when asked, Colt declined to comment at this time. Apparently there has been some talk about Colt relocating to another area for some time but that doesn't mean they'll be coming to Alabama.  The President of the NRA has been meeting the the governor in an effort to move other manufactures to the state.
