fishinthedacks Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 This year I decided I'm going to fish a lot of artificial frogs, lizards and craws. So yesterday while in a small local bait shop I asked those who fished the following if they were to reccomend just two what would they be? They handed me the Snag Proof Pro Series T-Frog in Firetiger (said this frog has caugt him 100s of LMB and a Snag Proof origional soft craw. Now the craw looks really nice I can see doing some damage with that but the frog looks a bit rediculous like I could have bought a hollow frog from the dollar store and attached some hooks and been on my way haha. I see other people are reccomending other snag proof frogs but not this one in particular. Anyone ever use these and what do you think? He gave me the 2 for only 8.00 which seems fair. But I don't care if they're 25.00 if they work. I don't think it compares to the r2s dhalberg frog but it's a different color for a good price which is why I bought them. Let me know what you guys think. Did I get a steal or is it something I'll probably never use? I just wish there were no ice on the lake I'd figure it out for myself haha. Quote
mnbassman23 Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 I've used the snag proof bobby's perfect frog in multiple colors, including firetiger, and it walks the dog effortlessly. By far one of my favorite frogs. Hopefully the Pro Series is similar I've never used that specific model. The paint jobs on the Snag Proof are no Spro or Koppers but to me it's all about action. 1 Quote

Super User WIGuide Posted February 17, 2014 Super User Posted February 17, 2014 There's a guy in our bass club that uses those and swears by them but as far as I know he's the only one. Personally, I like the Booyah Pad Crasher. Works just as good as the expensive ones at about half the price. Quote
BenB54 Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 ^^^ nailed it! I love the ish's phat frog and poppin' phattie. Likewise, these are pretty much the only two hollow body frogs I throw. I've yet to find a frog that is easier to walk or that walks better than the phat frog. Quote
SpencerLittle Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 I'm really wanting to pick up some of ish's phat frogs. Can't find them anywhere near me. Gonna hope they have some at the classic expo. Quote
fishinthedacks Posted February 17, 2014 Author Posted February 17, 2014 Man this is what I was worried about everyone loves the ishs but that's not what I have haha. Well if they sell other quality frogs I don't see why this one at the same price point would be any worse. It does seem like it'll be easy to walk and I do like the belly color and yes I know that's what counts. I also like how the hooks get exposed when the plastic is snagged seems like it'll be easy to hook them and the hooks are super sharp. what about the craw? It looks like that'll be effective but the hooks are smaller which concerns me...but the craws smaller. So could make sense. I like where the like ties on. Think it'll take good jerking motions to get the tail to response but that should be fine since craw aren't exactly slow and bass should be used to that. Quote
Super User gulfcaptain Posted February 22, 2014 Super User Posted February 22, 2014 the ISH series frogs, both the phat frog as well as the poppin phattie are awsome hollow frogs. They walk great, don't fill with water, and have a small rattle in them. Others I like are the new bronze eye shad, and koppers field mouse works well also. Just remember to have the right tackle when you throw them to set yourself up for success otherwise it doesn't matter what frog you throw. Quote
hookset on 3 Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 I've successfully fished Bobby's Tournament Frog for many years. It is a very good quality frog that, bottom line, catches the Big ones. I want you to go on You Tube and look up Bobby Barrack or Snag Proof videos. Bobby is a California topwater stud. That's his thing on the Sacramento Delta. They even have a big tournament there every year that's put on by Snagproof. All you're allowed to throw is Snagproof Frogs. You got a good deal, no worries. Quote
MarksHooked Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 I bought a Pad Crasher to try out this year, never thrown a frog before.... I had no idea you used a walk the dog pattern with them! I swear I learn 10 new things every day on this site, I would have just casted out and retrieved it straight for sure. Thanks for the thread, now I'm off to find some videos lol Quote
Talonman Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 I currently have 2 Snag Proof Weed Demon's on order.(1) Color: Black(1) Color: Firetiger I would love to hear of any reviews. I needed some Walk The Dog baits, and these looked like they would do OK for me. Quote
Janderson45 Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 I've almost exclusively fished the Koppers Live Target frog, which is one of the better painted/more expensive ones. All of this conversation definitely has me thinking I might try some cheaper brands this year. I've had GREAT results with the Koppers model, but I'm thinking I'm probably just paying extra for the higher quality paint jobs that the fish don't see or don't care about anyways. PS- A top water frog over some lily pads has got to be one of the most exciting and exhilarating ways to fish. Seeing that big ole bass bust out from under the weeds, completely engulf the lure, take it under, wait a second or two and BAM! Set those hooks like you're trying to put them through the fish's brain! Quote
gobig Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 I am a big snag proof guy. The Bobbies perfect frog is one of the best on the market IMO. Not the easiest frog to fish but Mnbassman has it right its all about the action. 1 Quote
