Just a heads up for BR members. My local walmart had a bunch of items on clearance. Mustad trebles, both the triple grip and 2x/1x for $3. Various Vmc hooks including spinshots for $3. Sk tour grade trailer hooks for $1.50 weighted and unweighted owner spring locks for $2.40

Also various rods.

Been a lot of good clearence items lately getting ready for a new season. Local herb phillipson has vc, rapala, etc all hard lures 2.99 plastics 1.99

Posted

Checked my local walmart and a lot of things were on clearance but only like $.50 off. Going to check the neighboring town's walmart tonight to see what they have.

Something I found at my walmart(s) was Bill Lewis Rattle traps for $3.50. There was chart shad, black blue shad, and lake fork special. This is a good deal which is atleast $1.00 less than other stores.

NOTE: Not all Bill Lewis Rattle Traps are on sale. The ones with a red clearance tag are.

I also got some Sufix 832 braided line for 14.99 Can't beat this! --Only one pound test was on clearance. It was 40lbs.

Clearance prices are based at individual walmart stores

I buy a lot of clearance tackle. I don't fish a lot of clearance tackle, but I buy it.

The Dick's by me generally has something decent on clearance most of the time. Got a bunch of 7" and 10" power worms for $0.97 each a few weeks ago.

I usually look for the discount box at walmart. Has randomness in it but usually it has 2$ bombers and Cotton Cordel lures. I loaded my tacklebox with them. So far they seem to work well. Have caught a fish on most of them this far. Not the greatest build quality but for such cheap jerkbaits. Can't complain at all.

Just look for the boxes on the bottom shelf. When they restock the box its usually gone again that same day! :)

Thanks for the heads up! I have been cleaning up on clearance tackle at Dicks, along with coupons I have got some insane deals. I have bought a lot of tungsten for dirt cheap!

I also noticed some good clearance on high price rods on Walmart. Of course none of it is labeled clearance at my local Walmart so I just go to the price checker thing an aisle over and scan, scan, scan...

A lot of the same stuff atmy local walmart was on clearence as well. They moved it off the main isle too so I think they're gonna get loads of new tackle in.

Yeah it was in it's on little area away from the main aisle. Crappy part is I just bought a bunch of spinshots and sk trailer hooks from there last week. Should of waited. Oh well I grabbed a bunch of mustad trebles. Can't pass up $3 for 6 hooks.

Walmart has realy steped up their game.  Walmarts near bodies of water have tackle aimed at the specific body of water.

Even in Council Bluffs Iowa where there is a BPS and a Cabelas near by, yet no bodies of water worth a darn, they still cary stuff that is tempting to say the least.

For me, it is normal to see last years tackle on super sale at Walmart.  They have a $1.50 stand outside of Sporting Goods every year come spring.  I always load up on Yum plastics and pick up a Rebel crank or two such as the Shallow Wee R.

I plan to load up on Craw Papis this year.

Close outs are currently happening in the Walmart stores in my neighborhood (metro KC area)  Trokar hooks for $5 per pack, StrikeKing tungsten sinkers for $5 per pack.  There was some other stuff that I didn't need.

I was just in my local one last night too. Lots of stuff on clearance. I grabbed all the #2 spinshots they had.

Some of the better deals I saw were on rods, they had:

Current generation Abu Vendetta rods marked down to $64 from $79

Berkley Lightning Rod Shock marked down to $30 from $40

Falcon Bucoo Rods marked down to $80 from $129

Quantum KVD Tour rods marked down to $99 from $149

Skeet Reese Rods marked down to $60 from $89

Abu Vengeance rods marked down to $30 from $49

Yeah I've noticed walmart selling more specific to certain game fish as in catfish, bass, bluegill, trout, and crappie. I think the store in general in your area is adapting to the lifestyle of your region. In this case, it makes it better for a fisherman to get the certain lure he "looses" while fishing and be able to buy at his local walmart. I agree it helps their sales and cuts into competition. Also some of there pricing is cheaper than BPS, Gander Mountain, Dicks, and Cabellas.  I Looked at those BL Rattle Traps up on BPS. They want $6.49 ea and on clearance walmart has them for $3.50 ea. Orginal price even was cheap to at I think $4.50 ea.

I have one walmart 5 minutes away and two walmarts (one east, and one west of me) 30 minutes away. I check all three. I noticed the one by me had only rods on clearance and they were the falcon bucoo's and vengeance rods. At the one in Princeton, IL I noticed they had plano hydro box 3650 for $5 bucks. This is where I got the Sufix 832 braid 40lb for $14.99. Like everyone is saying the clearance varies store to store. I also noticed trokar hooks on sale for $5 bucks the mag worm hooks.

I want to add also check Amazon.com http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=s9_hps_bw_clnk?node=3408951&search-alias=sporting&hidden-keywords=-guitar&field-pct-off-mp-owner=50-&field-enc-merchantbin=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=merchandised-search-3&pf_rd_r=1M1PNJEB5NQX0YH04G8Y&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=1620978402&pf_rd_i=3408951 They have items from 50% off and up its there end of the year markdown sale. I got a Utility box organizer wire rack which holds 14 boxes of 3600, and 3700 for only $20.53. Orginally 39.99. Just search around great deals at this time of year.

The Walmart's around here have nothing special.  I do buy their Eagle Claw 3x and 4x trebles in the 20 pack, very inexpensive and work well.  I won't use anything but 3x in fresh or 4x in salt, I do buy 4x VMC's as well, I don't care for a 2x hook.

My walmart had a lot of stuff on clearance, but most of it was only like 90 cents off, not much of a clearance lol.

I went into gander mountain the other day and that's quit possibly the worse "big" sale I've ever seen in my life. No hooks on sale, very few lines on sale, and the plastics and hard baits that were on sale was either buy 3 get one free or buy 4 get one free, which ends up not being much of a sale.

The bass pro sale is by far the best around here, it's literally the only one that actually has some decent markdowns on prices.

My local Walmart had 10lb test Stealth braid on sale for 3.99 and all gammy hooks for .99. Lets just say im stocked well on hooks.

Other than my 1st gen vendetta rod I picked up for 30, the only thing I was interested in was the excalibur cranks.

They are getting rid of a lot of gimmicky/technique specific terminal tackle.

Gander Mountain has some great sales right now, and some stores can have the sale items shipped to your location if you are fortunate to find an associate who is aware of all the promotions going on right now.....

I found, and was forced to purchase a bunch of stuff I didn't need, but I wasn't going to let some other guy beat me to a good deal so here are some Gander, Dicks, and Cabelas sales I have found in Florida, and they are all on the same street, I did not seek any stores out specifically.

Red Eye and Diamond Shad, KVD Suspending Shiner and Pro Model Lipless Cranks at Gander for $1.99. All Storm Soft Swimbaits, Exchange packs, cranks etc..$1.99-$4.99

Storm Kickin Sticks $6.99, Clackin Cranks $5, DT20-3.99, Random Bandits & Norman cranks $3.99, Spro Frogs $7.99, buy 2 and get one free, and scatter raps were under $5....Next The Kinetic Spinning Reel was $69 with a rebate on top to make it under $60, so I now have another Nice Reel For Display....

At Dicks, Make Sure You find the Guy or Gal who knows the Fishing Department, how to find hidden sales (.97-.98 or .57 endings are often 75% off. You have a 30 day price match, and if you take the survey, you can get a $10 coupon for a sale of $50...Very Easy to do with Lucky Crafts $9.99,KVD cranks $2.47 Plus, Bandits under $3.00, Powerbait worms, Flukes, finesse etc. $1.59, BUy one power pro get one half off, same with Rapala and DT10's are down to 4.97 already...Trigger X baits 1.99, Trokar 6.99, Egret Swimbaits (Hidden $3.39)....anyway, make the purchase and take the survey and all clearance items will go 1/2 off todays prices for 1 week, here in Tampa it is happening this week, and Rc Sticks are already being cleared out and getting ready. They will adjust your receipt, save you$10, and you can buy twice as much tackle you didnt need, and usually they have some nice jig heads for .97 by Falcon, Jackall, Owner etc..Look for endings and flat out ask. DIcks employees are usually cool.

Cabelas has awesome deals right now, just can't find any Megabait Charlies.
