basslover12345 Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 Has anyone ever tried to do things like carolina rig the toad or the shad, or just do comething crazy like that with rage baits for a unique, but different presentation to the bass. Has anyone ever tried a rage toad as a swimming jig trailer or chatterbait trailer? I've been looking for some out of the ordinary ways to fish rage tail baits in the potomac river's many grass beds on pressured days Quote
Super User Raul Posted January 10, 2011 Super User Posted January 10, 2011 Define "crazy" Define "regular or norrmal" The variations/permutations available for soft plastic baits are as large or as small as your imagination and your knowledge of rigging methods. Quote
Super User webertime Posted January 10, 2011 Super User Posted January 10, 2011 I have used the Smoking Rooster as a sort of Fluke/Jerkbait. Just jerking it through the weeds and letting it sit for a few seconds. Quote
basslover12345 Posted January 10, 2011 Author Posted January 10, 2011 What I mean is are you doing anything really creative or out of the ordinary with your rage baits......... Quote
GrundleLove Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 I tied a rage tail to my shoe lace and hung my foot out of the back of my Jon Boat while heading back into dock. Caught a 4 pounder Quote

Super User J Francho Posted January 10, 2011 Super User Posted January 10, 2011 Space monkey, unweighted, burned across the surface. Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted January 10, 2011 Super User Posted January 10, 2011 Rage Lobster, subtle buzzbait Quote
tnbassfisher Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 Space monkey, unweighted, burned across the surface. That sounds killer. I'm going to have to give it a shot, I have never thought of doing this. Quote
Nice_Bass Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 Not crazy, but keel weighted space monkey I use as a buzz frog in the morning and without putting that rod down it also stands on bottom like a craw would perfectly. I guess it is just really versatile. edit: I use instead of a t-rigged craw which i seem to get too much line twist with- keel weight eliminates that. Quote
Super User BASSclary Posted January 10, 2011 Super User Posted January 10, 2011 Not a rage tail, but I have been known to use Horny Toad C-rigged and as swim jig trailers. Not much success though. Quote
basslover12345 Posted January 10, 2011 Author Posted January 10, 2011 Any creative stuff for the rage shad, for example, carolina rigging it??????????? Quote

Nibbles Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 There are no rules for rigging any baits, only suggestions. If you think it might work, why not just try it out and see what happens? Quote
BassThumb Posted January 10, 2011 Posted January 10, 2011 Any creative stuff for the rage shad, for example, carolina rigging it??????????? I haven't tried it, but I have a feeling that a Rage Tail Shad might spin like crazy on a Carolina rig. Give it a shot. Quote
guitarkid Posted January 11, 2011 Posted January 11, 2011 I wonder how a lobster or craw would do rigged backwards. -gk Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted January 11, 2011 Super User Posted January 11, 2011 I wonder how a lobster or craw would do rigged backwards. -gk I could see it doing well with a Florida rig Quote
