SFL BassHunter Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 I'm meeting a friend half way to do some bass fishing in Broward. I live in Dade and he has very little experience with Bass fishing. I was hoping someone on here could help me out with some decent fishing spots in Broward. I don't go there often because it is a bit out of my way. I would rather not go around exploring and waste time. If anyone has any info they can message me or post on here. I was also looking at TY Park, I know they have Little League Tournaments there but does anyone have any experience with that park, how good is it for bank fishing? Thanks Rick Quote
Super User geo g Posted February 14, 2014 Super User Posted February 14, 2014 Heritage Park in Plantation is a good one. Vista View in Davie is good. Markum Park in Sunrise has lots of fish and snakeheads in it. These lakes are catch and release only lakes and hold some big fish. 1 Quote
SnazzySenko Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 TY park isn't good for beginners. I believe it used to be a rock quarry. So it's very deep. May be hard for someone starting out. Markham is good. There's largemouth, snook, panfish, and a few other kinds of nice fish. Vista View is a good spot. It's got largemouth and peacock. In front of vista view there is a small little lake across the road and also east on griffin you could try. You could also fish the griffin canal. There's tarpon, snook, peacock, largemouth. It's great to fish there. Just bring live shiners it's the best for there. On griffin rd and 441 there's a little spot next to a water thingy (can't remember the word)it's a white building. 1 Quote
SFL BassHunter Posted February 14, 2014 Author Posted February 14, 2014 Awesome guys thanks for the info! Going to put it to good use this Sunday! Hopefully we will catch some big uns! I like the thought of Markham because of the possibility of catching snook as well. Are the snook also catch and release? If they are that's a d**n shame. Quote

Not sure but if you do go to Markham your best bet is to go to the canal that goes northeast up until it starts to go straight north. At that bend fish and troll. Lot's of snook there. Quote
WestonFLBassFishing Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 Vista View is a great spot. Saw a couple alum pulled out of there. Especially good for bluegill and cichlids. The cichlids put up a hell of a fight for their small size (good fish for beginners). Fish by the mini dock on the southern of the part of the northwest lake. You can literally see the fish from the dock. Also seen some catfish in there if you're interested. The cichlids and bluegill go crazy for bread. Attached is a picture of the cichlids beautiful fish. WestonFLBassFishing Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 This may give you a better idea of the lake's size and color. Watch out for the water moccasins though. 1 Quote

WestonFLBassFishing Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 I'm standing on the dock in the other directions there's still a lot more. Quote
Super User geo g Posted February 16, 2014 Super User Posted February 16, 2014 Vista View is loaded with bass and a good number of big ones. I have pulled a number of 6 pounders out of there over the years. I know of a guy that pulled a ten out of the smaller south side lake. There are plenty of open spots all around the lakes to cast with no problems. On week days there is no entrance fee. The only problem with these lakes is sometimes they get so full of vegetation they are hard to fish from the bank. They do spray them from time to time, and there is a good population of snakes along the bank. Right now there is no problem anywhere on the lake for weeds. 1 Quote
SFL BassHunter Posted February 17, 2014 Author Posted February 17, 2014 Nice, thanks for the info! I might have to give Vista View a try. I actually didn't get a chance to meet with my friend. We decided to leave it for tomorrow. So I went south to fish. Did some saltwater fishing, caught a baby cuda. Then I tried the canal behind the Homestead Speedway. I have never seen such clear water in a canal. I could see everything from top to bottom. I also had never seen Jack in a canal. A school of em swimming around having a good ol time. The bass were tiny, and the peacocks too. There were some small mangrove snappers in there. Several schools of what looked like american shad. A school of what looked to be lady fish. 2 GIANT CARP! These suckers were huge! A manatee, and a few turtles. I could see them all, but I couldn't get anything to bite. One jack came flying out of no where up to my green fly and got to about half an inch of it and made a u turn. LOL. Quote
Bass Commander Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 Dang I wish I knew about all the moccasins at vista view. I was standing in knee deep water to get past some vegetation never saw any snakes thank god. Thanks for the heads up Quote
Super User geo g Posted March 10, 2014 Super User Posted March 10, 2014 It was a snake haven when it used to be a old dump site. Before it was ever a park those lakes were there into the 1960"s. There is a 5 foot gator in the big lake right now. Look around carefully if your going to go wading through the weeds. 1 Quote
