(='_'=) Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 i got this photo from facebook, supposedly they were caught in Sinaloa, Mexico, around 1970... they say these bass weighted 12 kilograms (about 25 lbs) as they look in the picture, so alive they would be maybe 2 or 3 pounds more... what do you think?? Tom Hes holding the fish by the mouth, the top of the top of the mouth definitely looks like a bass and the dorsal fin and tails look legit to me also. What other kind of fish would it be? Quote

You can't identify these fish by looking at their backs, they could be snook for example. FLMB did not exist in Mexico back in the early 70's. the bass lake in those days was Gerrero and 12 lb LMB were as big as they got back then, even in gill nets. Tom 1 Quote

Whatever they were, I'm sure they were great fish tacos. Edit: I fixed the color on the image to what would be more accurate. Even the skin color would appear to not be right. Tom i agree, the forked tail is what makes me almost certain they arent bass. the bodies look like catfish to me but the head doesnt look like a catfish. could be anything... Quote

They ALMOST look like they could be cobia, if the gills weren't shredded out. The tail is right, and the dorsal location and coloration is accurate. Wish there were a better shot of the head. Quote
