Depens on your fishing style.

If you like to cover lots of water, Spinner Bait or better IMO a ChatterBait.

If you like to move more slowly, and fish each spot out, Jig.

Both baits are worthy to master.

This past year i made the decision to try a new technique. I chose tho learn the ways of a jig. My first jig was a Booyah Pigskin Jig. Since then, I got a combo entirely dedicated to jigs. I also have picked up 30 jigs, most made by Siebert Outdoors. I would Highly recommend trying jigs because for me, that is my most producing lure. Just my 2 cents.

Wow you guys have been a great help. I really do enjoy fishing faster and covering more water. However that's because I don't catch as many fish slow fishing or with jigs. I think Going with jigs would teach me some slow fishing discipline.

The jigs seem to be a popular choice with a ton of versatility. I may end up with this choice.

two options here

1) catch more fish-----> spinnerabit (not everywhere but most places)

2) catch less fish but the size is better-----------> jig

personally I would go the spinnerbait rout because it seems you are relatively new to bass fishing and just learning how to catch fish and gain confidence will help you in the future when you learn the more involved techniques like jigs and t-rigs...

^^this is excellent advice.  Spinnerbait to catch'm a jig to possibly catch your new PB!
