Smokinal Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 Read, read and read some more. This forum, books, magazine articles or anything. When I'm not fishing, I'm reading about ways to improve my fishing skill. Yup, pick a technique you want to learn more about, use the "search" key and there will be most of the info you need. The other half will be in the "videos" tab along the top of the page. And, by all means, don't be afraid to just ask! Welcome to BR! Quote

Super User Sam Posted February 16, 2014 Super User Posted February 16, 2014 Plane, please add your location to your avatar. We can help you better if we know where you live. As stated above, the Fishing Articles section at the top of the Forum's page is the best place to start. Read as much as you can about bass behavior, water temperature and cold fronts. You need to learn how the bass react to water clarity, water temperatures, time of the year, cold and warm fronts, current, structure, piers, docks, moored boats, creeks, channels, coves, bays, boat traffic, trolling motor noise, the use of scent on your baits, type of baits to throw and when, etc.. Once you start to learn about the bass' behavior you can then notice the patterns during each day. Subscribe to bass fishing magazines. Start with joining BASS and getting their Bassmasters Magazine followed by a subscription to Bass Times. Then there is Bass Angler Magazine (BAM) and Bass Quest and a number of other excellent publications. Books like Dr. Keith Jones' Knowing Bass - The Scientific Way to Catch More Fish; Denny Brauer's Winning Tournament Tactics and Jig Fishing Secrets plus all of Kevin VanDam's books. You can also find a lot of DVDs on bass fishing from the pros web sites. One last suggestion. It will take time to learn what you need to know. It is not a sprint. It is a marathon that never ends. So after you read the articles at the top of the Forum's page go to YouTube and subscribe to Glenn's videos and then start searching for different lures and presentations and view, making notes, of what is presented. Start a library and refer to the articles you cut out and the videos you like so you will refresh your memory as you walk down the bass fishing path to stardom!!!! And ask your questions using good grammar and punctuation. Noting turns the guys off than someone who can't write correctly and express themselves so we can understand what they are asking. 1 Quote
