Big Inline Spinners

Anyone use big inline spinners for bass. I was at bps today and saw the mepps musky killer and picked it up. I figured if they can eat a 10" power worm they can eat one of these bad larry's.

#3 & #4 inlines seem to produce better for me when I do throw them. Give it a try and let us know.

I've lost track of the quality bass I've caught on that and other pike and muskie baits.  They and other inline spinners, smaller Jakes and even some double inline buzzers have all produced bass for me.  I haven't tried them when specifically targeting bass, but I don't see why they wouldn't produce.

On the opposite end of the size spectrum, I caught a 3.5er last Summer on a white 1/8 oz. roosertail fishing for catfish bait.

I've caught some nice bass with a size 5 dressed aguila... I was also targeting pike with it. I'd bet you could work a size 5 and catch them as well.

There is a bait called Eagle Tail that any Muskie fisherman will be reasonably familiar with.  The Little Eagle and Buchertail 700 account for HUGE numbers, and some huge fish, every year for us on several lakes up north.  When Smalljaws leave the reefs and start poking at baitfish schools like cisco and whitefish, you can absolutely dominate fish with these baits.  I've caught an awful lot of smallies on them.  What is awesome about these two in particular is that they are single siwash hook baits.  Really superb baits.

The same can be said for Mepps and Harassers and the like can be really, really effective for largemouth at certain times.  I really like them working deep weedlines in mid summer, and they can be super just post spawn.  They're also really excellent around docks at certain times.  #5 Mepps is what I caught my first fish over 6lbs on, and I've caught a number of fish over 10 on them when they're chasing big schools of shad.

We used to catch all kinds of bass on Mepps when Muskie fishing when I lived in Wisconsin.

 

They still work here lol.  I do tend to take less while bass fishing though.  Spinners seem to be the ultimate pike bait for me.
