Super User eyedabassman Posted February 12, 2014 Author Super User Posted February 12, 2014 A friend of mine from Mo. loves these jigs. He tells me he has not lost one at all from last year. I did watch how they put in the bush branch's and that jig comes out with no problem!!!! Quote
Super User WRB Posted February 12, 2014 Super User Posted February 12, 2014 You can find Bo's jigs on TW under Don Iovino if you want living rubber and Owner hook. *** has become popular out west in the delta area. Tom Quote
Gelhar17 Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Ive thrown them into some pretty nasty places and i always got them out no problem. I actually caught myself trying to get hung up at times and caught fish in places i wouldnt expect to. Quote
Todd2 Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 I like these. They come through cover great. I fished it more than anything else last year. Quote
ClackerBuzz Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 haven't tried them but you can basically do that with any jig. fan the weed guard out to both sides like a V. then smear one drop of superglue all over guard. it will stiffen up even the weakest weed guard. once dry crack to ur desired strength. i like to crack the upper half completely free and leave the lower half of the guard glued. i have tons of jigs from many different manufactures and they now all have the same weed guard consistency and are timber bashing machines. 4 Quote

I fish jigs alot and I may have to disagree a bit! I think when you do fan a weed guard out or bend it back some, and now you get into a tree or bush that weed guard tends to bend again when you get hung-up and the more you pull the more it tends to bend! I think the most inportant thing that we are missing is the hook set and where we are hooking the bass! With the Netech jigs 99% of hook sets are in the top of the head, that is because the hook rolls up! The jigs that I have fished, the jig will roll on it's side and this will happen in the bass's mouth also, so when you go to set the hook you don't get a good hook-set or you may miss him all together! This has happened to me way too many times! So that's why I am so inpressed with this *** jig,it has the keel on both sides of the jig so when you go to set the hook the jigs ( hook) goes up and not to the side! I am sold and I will place a order for sure! My buddy on Table Rock LOVES them and his word is good enough for me.Just watch the videos ,he has a good thing going! Quote
jw24 Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 I have some and they come through cover really well. Love them for fishing brush! Quote
BenB54 Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Medlock makes an awesome heavy cover double weed guard jig. Quote
gripnrip Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 I seen these jigs at the mid-south tackle show yesterday. I'm impressed. Although I don't need another style of jig in my box to confuse. So when I need some jigs, I'll give them some love and see what I think. 1 Quote
Buzbait88 Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 I'm sure the jigs are fine, I just have a hard time purchasing from these guys. I've watched most of their videos because they get posted on several sites and Bo James(the owner) claims that he has invented just about every change that has ever been made to a jig in the fishing industry and his arrogance just really turns me off. If I decide I want a jig this style, I'll find another brand. Just my opinion. Quote
Super User smalljaw67 Posted February 17, 2014 Super User Posted February 17, 2014 The videos are impressive without a doubt and you see how well the cam action rights the hook all the time but you are forgetting something important, the bass inhales the jig along with water so even if a jig is upright it may fall to the side during this time. I've hooked 95% of the fish I caught with a jig in the roof of the mouth too, in fact I use a wedge head that doesn't come close to standing up and I use it as my flipping jig because most of the bites on a jig are going to come as the jig is falling or as you move it and as I said, when it inhales it the fish will clamp down to expel excess water out the gills and very seldom do I hook a fish in the lower jaw or corner of the mouth, that happens most of the time when you are swimming it or reeling it back for another pitch or cast and the fish swipes at it from an odd angle. If I make a jig, any jig and add a heavy weed guard, I can walk it out of cover like is done on the video, most of how we get snagged up with a jig is when you come over a limb and hit another and it feels like a bite and we set the hook and drive the hook into the wood, that is most of the time. I think the *** jigs look great and I think it will perform but it won't have any better or any worse hook up rate than any other jig with a heavy weed guard, in fact those who miss fish with a heavy fiber guard are going to miss fish with that jig as well because those rubber strands are hard and stiff and some bass will spit it just as quick as they do other jigs and we all have had it happen otherwise there wouldn't be threads on whether you trim your weed guards and how to do it. Here is an experiment, take a normal flipping style jig other than a *** and fire it into some heavy cover and then walk it out while not worrying about getting bit, just focus on walking the jig out of the cover and I think you'll find if you do that, you'll find that you standard heavy cover jig works good in heavy cover just like the ***. Super User WRB Posted February 17, 2014 Super User Posted February 17, 2014 I can speak from experience that engineers can be too direct to be good salesman. It's rare combination to be creative and humble at the same time. When I first viewed the *** jig video and listened to John "Bo"James my impression was another gimmick. To my surprise Bo sent me a email asking for my input to his jig and sent me a few to try out. Anyone who asks for help isn't a self centered egotistical person. Introduced the *** jig to a few western marketing and expert jig anglers for their input, I was unable to fish then due to back surgery. The response was very positive with the exception of the original hook being used and needed a heavier size. Bo listened, made some changes and his *** jigs are popular out west as a result. The *** jig is a very universal design for all types of bottom structure and cover, the Owner hook only improves this jig. Before you slam someone openly on any forum, give them the opportunity to answer your critique man to man. Tom 3 Quote
Got1Fishing Posted February 20, 2014 Posted February 20, 2014 I need to "guard my heart" haha... I just put in an $80+ order on Siebert Outdoor Jigs and now want to try these. I'm so in love with Siebert Outdoor jigs... maybe I won't even try them--I want to stay loyal; Mike Siebert is a nice guy. Quote
