Volboy Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Assuming you can only pack 5 baits in the early Spring, what are your go to lures (45-55 degree water temps say in March). Trailers don't count as a lure, but jig heads, trig, etc do count as one. Here are my 5: Suspending jerkbait #5 shad rap in craw color 3/8 oz finesse jig with small craw trailer 1/2 oz Red Eye Shad 4" grub on swimming grub head 3/16 oz. Had a hard time leaving out the spinnerbait, but it usually doesn't produce until the water hits the top end of the range for me. Quote

Super User Teal Posted February 12, 2014 Super User Posted February 12, 2014 In response to you question, what I got is a headache..It wasn't that hard for me. I try not answer these questions unless it is clear to me, because things do change and I do grow as a fisherman. But this one was easy, these are usually all I have tied on during this tim.e of year. There are others that ill try and I do catch fish on but I was going tmw, i would make sure I would have the listed baits tied on...history has shown I have done my best with those 4 or five baits during that time of year which is pre spawn here... Which has been known to give me fits. Quote

Super User RoLo Posted February 13, 2014 Super User Posted February 13, 2014 It took me years to narrow down my lure arsenal to the 'Necessary Nine'. Realistically, I could never cut it with just 5 lures: Lipless Plug > Jackall TN/70 (sexy shad) Mat Punch > Strike King Rage Craw (junebug) > 1-1/4 oz Tungsten Bullet Sinker > Gamakatsu 5/0 Superline EWG Hook > Cobra Bobber Stop Hard Jerkbait > Rapala JH-12 Husky Jerk (silver) Jig & Craw > Strike King Rage Lobster (black blue-flake) > All-Terrain 3/8oz Grassmaster Jig (black/blue) Unwieghted Worm > Yamamoto 6" Senko (green pumpkin black-flake) > Gamakatsu 4/0 Skip-Gap Hook Roger Quote

Super User Hooligan Posted February 13, 2014 Super User Posted February 13, 2014 Serious response- I can't do it. It's entirely too limited. There's no possible way I'm going to limit myself to just five lures to use. Five Categories, maybe- jerkbait Jig Big Spinnerbait Squarebill Plastics- Senko, Finesse Worm, Ringers, the like. Quote

Super User SirSnookalot Posted February 13, 2014 Super User Posted February 13, 2014 I like to use something different everyday. I don't necessarily take what I think will be the best bait of the day, I may read something on BR and decide to use that. If people are taking about spoons I'll say to myself " haven't used that in a while, let's give it shot". Could be senkos, or jigs, top water or whatever and I stick with it. I could use a senko everyday and catch fish, gotta have variety to keep it interesting. Quote
