BigMoneyGrip Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 I'm looking for a general purpose crank rod and the Crucial Crankbait 7'2" has my attention. Does any one have any opinions about this rod? Thanks, Scott. Quote
thehooligan Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 I'd also like to hear some info on these rods, I was considering the 7 foot medium heavy model. Quote
BigMoneyGrip Posted February 13, 2014 Author Posted February 13, 2014 Well, Hooligan, looks like we're on our own with this one. I'm gonna get the 7'2" rod next time I see it. I'm confident enough that it should be fine for what I'm gonna use it for. 1 Quote
thehooligan Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 Sounds good. I might pull the trigger on one soon. Quote
Avaitor63 Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 If you have'nt already, look into the St.Croix Rage 7' MHF and a Ardent Pro Edge out standing balance. You could cast all day with this combo. Quote
Dramer77 Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 What kinda cranking do you plan on doing? The crucial is a nice rod, I wouldn't suggest a rage seen to many mixed reviews on them Quote
Garret88 Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 What kinda cranking do you plan on doing? The crucial is a nice rod, I wouldn't suggest a rage seen to many mixed reviews on them I wouldnt necessarily go with a Rage either. I've messed around with one before. Yes they are very light and you can get good blank contact by the trigger, but the guides feel cheap and the threads above the reel seat interfere with the blank contact from the index finger (very uncomfortable in my opinion). I'm also looking for a cranking rod too. So any more info on the crucial would be nice Quote
SpencerLittle Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 Just picked up a bps crankin stick yesterday. I haven't had an opportunity to see any water time with it but it feels great. It's as light as any of the other crankin rods I picked up and has the right back bone and tip that I was looking for. The price point on it is great as well. Quote
CJV Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 IRod 693C "Marty Stone cold square bill" hands down best crankbait rod I've ever used for throwing square bills, traps, jerk baits, and handles medium divers with ease. Quote
OK Bass Hunter Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 I have 2 of the Shimano 7'-2" cork handled Crucials and I love them. They handle well and they load up good. I haven't done any deep cranking with them but they've worked well for me. Quote
Super User tomustang Posted February 18, 2014 Super User Posted February 18, 2014 I know a buddy who loves his Crucial crankbait rod but I don't know what model it is. I use to have a Clarus 7MH which I liked but didn't need it so I got rid of it, very nice all around cranking rod with a sweet warranty. Quote
aceman387 Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 I have a 7" medium power full cork handle crucial and i feel its just a good as my much more expensive legend elite. Quote
Super User Hooligan Posted February 19, 2014 Super User Posted February 19, 2014 I like the Crucial just fine, it's a good stick. I like the Rage an awful lot for that rod. It fits my hands extremely well, and I have no problems with the guides with fluorocarbon. The Crucial is probably a little more stick, in terms of actual power. Quote
DelcoSol Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 I have a Clarus crankbait rod and a Crucial drop shot rod. Love both. For the $80 the Clarus is awesome. Quote
