So I finally decided to join a local bass club and am having a small dilemma.  I'm not sure which would be the better one to join, so would like your input.  At the moment I'd have to sign up as a Co-Angler, but I'm hoping to after setting my goal, to get enough money to buy a boat in 2-3 years. I guess that is a criteria, which association is friendier to Co anglers?  I'm not looking to be a "pro" in the next 5 years or something, but I would like to see do a few tournaments and get better.  What I really want to get out of the club is to learn more from everyone, to get a feel on how a tournament goes in reality and if I have the right stuff to do more in the future.  Also, I would like to try new bodies of waters and learn to adapt.   I'm sure both clubs are good for either or, but I'm trying to gauge which one would actually be worthwhile in everyone's  experience.  Is there a pro/con for each?  I'm in Ontario, so if any other locals can comment.

Right now I am leaning towards the local FLW club.  Just not sure though!

You will learn a ton from your boater if you pay attention but remember this is not a chartered trip so their focus won't be on teaching you per-se.  If your budget can afford it and their schedules don't conflict you can do both.  If you can only choose one then I would suggest going with the one which affords you the most time on the water. Do your homework and fish hard!

Good luck!

Try to find one where they care more about having fun than point standings. The one I am in now everyone is friendly and will help out new anglers. At least two tournaments a year I end up giving someone else in the club struggling some of the baits I have that are working. Some other clubs I have been backboated so bad I was just there to ballast the port side for runs.

When you talk of FLW and Bassmaster tournaments you're mostly referring to BFL's with FLW and opens with Bassmaster I assume. If it were me I would go with the BASS opens. The BFL's are mostly one day affairs while the opens are two days, and sometimes three. It's very east to get "backboated"in a BFL event, but it doesn't happen often on the open trail. There's plenty of good things with both organizations though.I fish as a boater in both FLW events and BASS events and I always try to answer any questions my co asks me,and yes-I do try to put him/her on fish the best I can.

Thanks for the input guys.  I may just go with Bass Masters because they are at least responsive to my queries which gives me good vibes.  I have yet to hear anything from the other club.

I would go to both clubs meetings before ever deciding. I jumped the gun last year and joined a club where it was all about what you could do for them and F your life and schedule. You were basically looked down on as a rookie if you couldnt be at their every want and need including mid day mid week tournaments and our weekend night tournaments.

Before id ever join another "club" I would do some very heavy investigation. Yeah theres clubs that exist where its full of cool guys, theyre just few and far between. Make sure it fits YOU more so than you fitting THEM.

Its a bass club not a marriage if you dont like it fish with them a year and move on. I can tell you fishing in a competative club with good anglers will make you a better angler. Then say some good old boys out to have a good time on a Saturday. The coangler side will give you a chance to see alot of diffrent boats and how they run. Good Luck

I fish Bassmasters Nation for my 1st year of tournament angling. I had hardheaded dick boater didn't care ABOUT NO ONE or myself. ( Non-Boater ) on Day 1. Day 2, I had the most friendliest boater that I ever had so far.

I would try Bassmasters first and see how you feel the society or atmosphere. If you dont like it. Join FLW.
