Ok so I'm not a mastodon leather wallet maker.

My wife and I own a real estate firm as well as an accounting practice.  Also working on a venture that deals with outsourcing.

That sure sheds some light on previous questions I had for you. Real estate is definitely where its at. I do habitat work for a guy who owns a big company. Good on you!

Full time professor and part time consultant. I'll be 62 tomorrow, and have been seriously considering retirement. I'll be giving up one of the jobs. Just haven't quite decided which.

For the last two and a half years I have been a full time, 24 hour a day, in-home care provider for an 86 year old woman with a combination of COPD and Dementia/Alzheimer's Disease, wherein my sibling, his ex-wives, and their children refuse to either regularly visit or offer to give me any relieve from those duties for even a short amount of time.  However, they are actively involved in making sure that I am not squandering any of their inheritance.

Rant Over.

While the pay is absolutely lousy, it keeps me busy enough that I don't have the need to purchase any fishing related things.  I can only hope that on the very sad day that this job comes to an end, that some higher power realizes that I've earned the chance at whacking a few more limits of hawgs than my poor angling skills used to come up with.

I work in a management capacity for a federal agency with an alphabet name which I am not at liberty to state. They aren't keen on their employees publicly stating they work for this agency and I have little desire to annoy my employer.

At any rate, it pays decently and it gives me a relatively good amount of time to go fishing.

I am a Senior Technician/Compounder for Merck. We are known mostly for our pharmaceutical business but I actually work on the consumer care side of the company. I compound Coppertone Sunblock, Dr. Scholls foot lotions, and Afrin Nasal Spray...so when you can breath thru your nose again after a few squirts of afrin you will now think of me...your welcome!

Operations - Family owned company that handles the Reverse logistics and Aerosol can recycling for Merck Consumer Care. Afrin works like a champ btw.... Thanks!

I'm the logistic coordinator at one of the worlds most sustainable businesses Interface Flor. we are the #1 manufacturer of carpet tile for commercial and residential applications. true story: the founder of Interface, Ray C Anderson used to work at my previous employer when he had the idea of making carpet tiles,, they told him it was stupid and would never be profitable. well, he left and started Interface. which would dwarf their annual sales in just one quarter. I also worked at Rays previous employer and actually occupied the same desk he did. last year i left there for hiscompany and honestly has been the best career decision I've ever made. If any of you are in the market for new floor covering that's helpful to the environment as well as aesthetically pleasing i urge you to check out our products at flor.com. give us a shot. plus you'll help fund my fishing excursions lol.

here's a link to an article about one of our newest products that are helping clean up the ocean and make beautiful carpet at the same time.

Man, that is tough.  I know how tough it is.  My stepmother is suffering from dementia and has terminal cancer.  It's really, really hard to watch her fade away from us.  I do what I can, but it will never be enough.  My sister's employer is more understanding, and allows her to take enormous time off to help my dad with my stepmom's health issues.

I applaud your efforts.

I'm sorry to hear that Glenn, it's hard on everyone.

Just a guess on my part, but is your sister the oldest of the female siblings?  It's a proven fact that the family caregiver is almost always the eldest daughter, or if there were no girls, the eldest daughter-in-law.  Watch out for her too.  I know it's hard to find the time, but she's going to need some time off from those duties.  Even a weekend away can help relieve the stress that comes with being an in-home care provider.

I'm afraid that I'm not the same jolly old fat guy you met in Kentucky a few years back, but that's a subject for a whole new thread.

Someday we'll be able to hoist another beer together and share a few war stories.
