.....bps doesnt have internet sales like tw,btd etc. thats what he is referring to.

I did not know that and I would have thought otherwise. Given their pre-eminence and name recognition in the fishing space I would have thought otherwise.

Over three years now since parting with the Shimano Baitcasters I was heavily invested in the past 20 years. I am happier today with my Lews, all 6 models and all 11 of them, I consider it an upgrade. I will also say just because some think the reels are similar to Revos and BPS reels and that makes them the same,,,,,they don't have much experience with theese reels. They are everything I wanted my Shimanos to be, and much better than the other 2 brands!!!!! That is like saying a Lew's Tournament is the same as a Team Lew's Pro or Team Gold, or because both are mag control only the Tornament MG is the same as the Super Duty,,,,, :rolleyes7:   There is a big defference guy's. :thumbsup1:

Eh? Their internet strategy seems to be working just fine. Could it be executed better? Sure, but not everyone can be Amazon.

their prices are higher, and their shipping is HORRIBLE, and shipping cost is bad too.

that said, I am sure they do fine for themselves, but they do not rely on internet sales which I think they are missing a huge profit score by not doing so.

They rely on brand recognition, and people thinking they are "the best" which they are not, IMO.  everyone starts at BPS, then quickly learns other places to shop, at least that was my progression.

Don't take me wrong though Sudbury, I am not calling you wrong at all.

I tend to agree with you Brian.  BPS has, for several years now, really tried to push the internet business as much as possible.  Remember days of old when they had color listings for all the baits?  Remember last years catalog that had "for more available colors, go to www....?"  They tried to push people to the internet to make those orders, rather than through the catalog.  The process was a failure.  Not to mention that if you try to access the website with IE, Firefox, and Chrome, it's almost a guarantee that it won't load.  The design, as well, is terrible.  There's no effective way to make a comparison on three rods, let's say, without either opening three windows, or having to go back and forth through three links or more.

Really? I never have loading problems with the BPS site. I always have loading problems with the TW site on the other hand. I will say trying to use the regular BPS site is pretty rough on mobile. The page keeps scrolling back to the top when you try to look at stuff on the bottom of the page.

Shimano Sherriff notwihstanding, at least the good captain is able to finitely, and capably explain why it is that he prefers one over the other, and does so without being critical of others choices.  Which, when it all boils down to it, is choices.  There are reasons that I can't stand some Lew's reels, and love some of the others.  The same goes for Daiwa, even Shimano- though according to one particular post I'm nothing but a Shimano Fanboy...

Anyhow...

I don't disagree with you at all, Bob.  They're not the same as the Pure and BPS reels.  There's NO comparison between the Lew's and those two.  I debate the validity of your argument that, should we take comparable reels in the Lew's line and Shimano, that the Lew's are unquestionably better, and better value.  I've seen the opposite of your findings in my experience.  But then, there are also reels from Daiwa that I prefer over both.

As has been pointed out, numerous times, one of the most highly recommended combos in a baitcaster for the past couple years has emerged to be a Lew's on a Dobyn's.  this silly notion of a Shimano Posse is pretty silly...

Constant.  I cannot open the website from my laptop without it hanging Firefox, to get it to open in Chrome, I have to use safe mode regularly.  IE?  Forget about it.

All he said was that his Lews are what he wanted his shimano's to be and that a bps or abu is not the same reel. Not really any actual explanation as to why he prefers one over the other. As for me, I wasn't trying to turn the thread into a debate. As you said,it's an opinion in the end. Take it,leave it, I won't lose any sleep over it. It's the internet. Also the shimano sheriff was just a little humor. Not intended to be taken seriously by anyone.

There is no Shimano Sheriff.  To imply otherwise is doing a disservice to the Moderators of these forums.  As Moderators, we all have our preferences.  That's right, we are normal people.  Only one of us has a strong preference for Shimano, but that is human nature.  If you like a Ford or a Chevy, you tend to stick with it and to tout its virtues.  The rest of we Mods may have a preference for other brands, but have not been so vocal about it in the past.  I certainly have have had a previous love affair with another brand, as do the other Mods, but our prejudices are beginning to change with the introduction of new products to the market place.  For example, Pinnacle has introduced a new line of rods and reels that are top-notch.  We Mods have had the opportunity to put some of these rods and reels through their paces and have for the most part, been thoroughly impressed.

As I said it wasn't directed at anyone or was I trying to imply there was one. Honestly I had no idea there was a mod that strongly likes shimano. I'll gladly delete it if it's considered offensive towards someone. Not my intentions.

I'm new here, but I see a lot more Lew's guys bagging on Shimano than the other way around. Perhaps I missed something in the past though.

It is funny though, no matter the topic or hobby, these brand loyalty scuffles always seem to happen on forums. I suppose its just human's tribalistic nature.

What this has to do with no Lew's at Bass Pro is beyond me.

Let's get back on topic.

Let's get back on topic.

Your right J, the op was answered hours ago, it is obvious that Lynn Reeves the CEO of Lew's leaving Bass Pro with the position he had, and hard feelings both ways, is why no Lew's at BPS. Questions falsely answers that they were the same reels were responded to to clarify that no they are not the same, the fact is if Lynn Reeves had left BPS the way he did and purchased Diawa and started his own new line the same would have been BPS actions, they would not be selling Diawas! but other thought’s  and remarks were part of the thread, many post their thoughts not knowing they are incorrect, part of the thread is responding to those misinformed post's to make others aware of the facts it’s all good and other than moderators I have not seen where anyone else was annoyed??????? what am I missing??? :Idontknow:

Shimano, Daiwa, TW, sheriffs, Internet Exploiter, jokes…

I think we've got our answers. No need to let this deteriorate into acrimony just because the lake is frozen.
