Super User F14A-B Posted February 11, 2014 Super User Posted February 11, 2014 Well my sources are sworn to secretly withhold all information On this reel ,my only question was (location local BPS) how many will they have on day 1 of sale? I know a great deal about the reel itself... I am wanting to know approx. # 's for availability Anyone wanna take a crack at this? I have no clue.. When the D was released they were out in 2 hrs of day one I know some one knows Quote
OkeechobeeAngler Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 10 according to the my local BPS. Quote
ColdSVT Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 I was told shimano thought they had a six month supply ready but they sold out in no time...if that is true i wouldnt expect to see many at your local retailer...no worry though, shimano will crank more out Quote
Super User F14A-B Posted February 11, 2014 Author Super User Posted February 11, 2014 Those are some seriously low numbers.... Surely they will have greater numbers than these With 3 different speeds , left and right retrieve seems low Anybody else? Quote
Super User lmbfisherman Posted February 11, 2014 Super User Posted February 11, 2014 When the Chronarch CI4+ came out they were sold out within minutes. I got lucky on day one only because I was at my local shop taking advantage of the no tax and 30% off rods sale. (Picked up a Cumulus that I was eying for a long time) The guy at the shop asked me, did you see the new Chronarch, I was like what? I thought it would be gone by now. He said well yeah they are, but we kept two for models. I was like what? Asked the manager if I can purchase it, got it with no tax. I was very happy! Anyway, they had 5 on hand, 2 of them they saved for putting up on the shelf for display. That was day one at a local shop. They were flying off the shelf for at least a couple months. In the end though, does it matter if you get it day 1 or 2-3 months from now? Quote
bootytrain Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 I think the major online retailers should have plenty since they can sell to a lot more people than brick and mortar stores. Quote
Super User F14A-B Posted February 11, 2014 Author Super User Posted February 11, 2014 Yep it matters to me... Going to south fl day after the spring sale starts! Really would like to give it a tough work out however.... It will have no effect on my trip one way or the other I guess I am a little shocked at the extreme low numbers that BPS may have for sale... Sounds like Black Friday crap!! Quote

Sounds like Black Friday crap!! BPS isn't a major seller when it comes to reels over $100. Places like TW, that deal in volume of fishing only, will have a fair amount. Either way, they're going to be tough to find for a month or two. Quote

Super User NorcalBassin Posted February 12, 2014 Super User Posted February 12, 2014 I'm picking up a Curado I or Chronarch Ci4 when the Classic sale starts... or I'm not going to be happy. If they're already out of those two when they open I'll be going upstairs to get a Ruger 10/22 to add to my mini arsenal. Gotta have a backup plan for the gift cards that have been buring a hole in my wallet since Christmas. Quote

I was going to get one from Valley Sports until I read they wont be getting theirs until April 2? Id rather pay the retail price to get it a month earlier. Quote

So I'm a little conflicted on what to do. haha...too bad I can't get both though. I would go for the Ci4/Curado though out of the two. Quote
Iluvsmallies Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 I actually just came from bass pro and he said that he ordered 500 and thought they would be gone by noon. He also said the sell was on a certain day and that day only. Quote
Iluvsmallies Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Sorry i think we are talking about two different curados. I was talking about the green one that is usually 159.00 that going on sale for 99.00. Quote
TrippyJai Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 I never buy reels when they first come out or pay retail for that matter. I'll head down to the local tackle shop and check them out for sure. Wait a few months until places restock and by that time, I'll probably be able to buy it used for much cheaper. If I like the reel, by this time, places are selling way below the MSRP. You save a lot of money over time. With 15+ Curado Es, I probably paid on average $125 per reel new and in great condition. OnthePotomac Posted February 18, 2014 Posted February 18, 2014 Our BPS store manager in Richmond says he "hopes" to have the new Curado when their classic sale starts, but they will not be a sale item. Quote
