George DeHaven Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 What creatures work the best on swim jigs and/or arky head jigs in Northeastern PA? Quote
Buckboy Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 personally i use a crawfatty or a sweet beaver or a pit boss...they bigger the better in my opinion...its all about the presentation. u want a bigger presentation so that monster bass thinks its gettin the big dinner in wants lol Quote
George DeHaven Posted February 11, 2014 Author Posted February 11, 2014 I was wondering if it makes a difference that craws are not found here naturally. If the bass are not used to seeing them, can they still be successful? Quote
Buckboy Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 i have had success i mean my family dug a pond out near my house and its been 2 years and i havent seen a single craw and i still catch them on one so i dont think so ..i mean they make other types of creatures to like an ugly ottor or a brush dog and i have had success with those too...what ive found that the best way to find out what the bass want is too experiment with different types of creatures and allways have different ones available Quote
George DeHaven Posted February 12, 2014 Author Posted February 12, 2014 Well, yeah. I know that there's other creatures out there but I figured I'd save some money by hopefully being able to narrow the search. Plus, a lot of the "How-To" videos on YouTube, you'll see guys using craws. However, most of the time, they're fishing down south. Quote
Buckboy Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 if i wer u i would buy a pack of craw fatties and a pack of ugly ottors and work with those lol thats wat i use and it works fine now ofcourse you are going to have to trim both of those down a bit to make them fit better Quote
George DeHaven Posted February 12, 2014 Author Posted February 12, 2014 I grabbed a couple packs of the Zoom Super Chunk Jr's. Black/Blue to match the skirt of the jig and Green Pumpkin to match another. Thanks for the advice! I will most likely get one or both of your recommendations and give those a shot too! 1 Quote

RatCog Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 I'm not in PA, but I have had luck with zoom baby brush hogs on my northstar black series jig. Quote
Super User eyedabassman Posted February 12, 2014 Super User Posted February 12, 2014 On a swim jig I fish the Grass pig, a 5 in .grub,Baby brush hog or the brush hog,any paddle tail plastic, lizards, and I take a ribbon tail worm and use that back end as a trailer on a swimming jig. There alot of things you can attach to a swim jig.And there work in PA. and all over the country!!!! Quote
