To tell you the truth, I'm the kind of those old fashioned anglers and I never used this things. I always thought that it takes away the 'excitement' of waiting for a fish to bite.

 

However, lately, I've been taking my grandson with me when I go fishing, and like all the young, he gets a bit impatient for a fish to bite :)

 

That's why I thought it might be a good idea to get one of these, thus reducing the waiting part. I've read this article about various types of fish finders, and now I want to know - what would be the best solution to purchase - the fixed or portable fish finder?

I think that would depend on the boat or watercraft you're using. Provide those details and we have some members here with a ton of knowledge on this stuff.
