John G Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 I haven't seen the new Metanium in person. Just curious which one palms better? Quote
Super User Dwight Hottle Posted February 8, 2014 Super User Posted February 8, 2014 The core is smaller & palms slightly easier. Quote
John G Posted February 8, 2014 Author Posted February 8, 2014 That's what I needed to know. Thanks! Quote
thehooligan Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 The reason why I got rid of my chronarch ci4, the 50's palm so much better... Quote
John G Posted February 8, 2014 Author Posted February 8, 2014 I am wanting a Aldebaran MG7 paired up with a Loomis CR722 for walk the dog. That should be a real nice combo. Quote
CJV Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 I just got my metanium XG from TW 2 days ago paired it up with a GLX and couldn't be happier! It's basically a core on steroids and IMO it palms better than the 100MG7 I have. I have pretty big hands though. Quote
bootytrain Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 The new Metanium palms great, its low and long, but the Core50 is just perfect ergonomically in my hands. They are very close in performance but the Metanium casts farther. Quote

Yes this is true however for those considering buying the core I would wait for those to go on discount which should be soon because there phasing the cores here pretty soon. I just couldn't justify the $300+ price tag for a reel that will be obsolete in another year but to each there own. Just my 2 cents Quote
Super User MarkH024 Posted February 8, 2014 Super User Posted February 8, 2014 You can find Cores on Ebay for well under msrp. I know from experience. Quote
John G Posted February 9, 2014 Author Posted February 9, 2014 I just couldn't justify the $300+ price tag for a reel that will be obsolete in another year but to each there own. Just my 2 centsi thought about this and I do love the SVS Infinity braking system on the Metanium. Quote
Crankinstein Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 I dont think the core will be "obsolete" in a year or two. Its still an amazing reel and a new reel is'nt going to suddenly change that just because it has a couple new features. That being said I do really like the metanium and I think you would be happy with either reel. One thing to note is the handle length, the metanium has longer handle. Both are excellent choices and would work well for that application. Quote

All I'm saying is I would want something new and modern with all the bells and whistles. I had the chance to cast the metanium in my backyard with snow and ice still on the ground LOL and the SVS is something incredible. Just keep that in mind. Quote
John G Posted February 9, 2014 Author Posted February 9, 2014 Iand the SVS is something incredible. Just keep that in mind.I have an Antares HG with the SVS Infinity braking system. I do agree that it's incredible and I do love the aspect of fine tuning that it offers. Quote
