Tylertut Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 I need a little input on a good reel. I bought a new Citica 200G a month ago and am second guessing myself now. I paid around 140 with tax. That is the same as the lews tournament mg I bought two years ago. And the lews just feels like a better reel to me. Is there any other reels around the 130 range I should consider? Quote
Tylertut Posted February 8, 2014 Author Posted February 8, 2014 Now with the Tatula, would I be better off with it, or waiting for the old Curado to be cheap when the new one comes out.? Quote
cbass12 Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 I got a Citica G from Dick's a month ago for $69, I think you could find a much better deal on a reel. And like you said just wait for the Curado G to go on clearance. Quote

As far as an all around reel, will there be a performance difference between the Tatula and Curado G. Quote

I got one just because it was a good deal and I can handle RH for moving baits. Quote
Tylertut Posted February 8, 2014 Author Posted February 8, 2014 I found a couple Curado E series for around 150. Would this be my best bet? Quote
Smallmouth Hunter Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 Wait for the chronarch E's to go for sale.. They will go down to 99 probably. Quote
Super User iabass8 Posted February 8, 2014 Super User Posted February 8, 2014 I found a couple Curado E series for around 150. Would this be my best bet? If you are asking if you should return the citica G for a different reel..well that's relative to you. Personally, I'd take the Tatula 11 times out of 10 over the citica G. If you can find the curado E for the same price as the citica G, that would be a good route to go as well. Odds are in a few weeks the current Chronarch E (essentially the same reel as the curado E /w a few minor upgrades) will go on sale at a very low discounted price /w the Curado I coming out in two weeks at the Classic. Curious why the Chronarch E is going ot be 99 or even lowered? They phasing out the E because of the Curado I? Quote
Super User lmbfisherman Posted February 8, 2014 Super User Posted February 8, 2014 For the OP for 140 that was way too high imo for the Citica G. If you can take it back and get your money back and get a better deal. Not that I'm knocking the Citica G, I own 3 of them myself, I would never pay retail for it when you can get better reels at that price point. Definitely wait for the Curado G to go down in price. IMO if the rumor here is true I'd wait for the Chronarch E to go down in price, which would be a much better buy. Quote
Super User iabass8 Posted February 8, 2014 Super User Posted February 8, 2014 Curious why the Chronarch E is going ot be 99 or even lowered? They phasing out the E because of the Curado I? I didn't say 99. I don't think it will go to 99 initially but eventually it may get that low to clear it out. This is only based on the previous Curado E that was heavily discounted at the release of the current Chronarch E. TW had the 50es for 99$ when they were at the tail end of their supply. I could see 130-140 being a more realistic discount right when the curado comes out but it may take a week or so to get there depending on how the Curado I is received. The new Curado I has a retail of 179.99 and is supposedly a very much improved reel over the curado/chronarch E. On paper, it is a better, more refined reel but very few people have actually used it yet. there wouldn't be room for a reel that is "lesser" than a reel that is cheaper an newer. IF the Chronarch E is thrown down to 99$ right off the bait (i would almost guarantee it won't be right away) they will be gone in a day or two. Quote

I guess that is fully possible, but I remember hearing the Shimano rep saying the Core and Chronarch E weren't going anywhere for awhile. Unless awhile is less than 6 months. Quote

Unless awhile is less than 6 months. Exactly. Nobody knows if/when they will be gone. There's more speculation than you could handle on the chronarch E being d/c or not. I can see it eventually being discounted due to they hype of the Curado I but it almost certainly won't happen right away. It will take a while and will be discounted based on sales and reviews of the new Curado. Just based on what I and everybody else has read about the specs and very minimal feedback of on the water use, it's almost a certainty the chronarch will be discounted if the new curado lives up to its hype. Tylertut Posted February 13, 2014 Author Posted February 13, 2014 Ok so I went to Bass Pro today and I'm not sure if it is current info, but I was told on March 15th the Curado G will he on sale for 99.99 starting at open at 9am. They already have them all pulled off the shelf at my BPS. I also will used my leftover money from the Curado for a Tatula. I didn't think I was going to be a fan until I tried one out at the store. After that is the Chronarch Ci4. Quote
