I am always timid to throw white baits

please provide some advice ansd scenarios you go by that call for white baits and lures, it's always my last choice, and when my buddy tells me he's killing them on white senko's,  I typically won't use white unless it's got other colors mixed in fishing shaded to sunny water....

Think about it.  Many shallow crankbaits and topwaters have white bellies and that is mainly what the bass is seeing from underneath.  White is a great color.  White would not be one of my top colors at night or in muddy water, but otherwise, it is good in most other situations.

I fish in NOVA, and white slays them for me most of the time.  One of my favorites is a white Tiki Stick, bass hammer it in ponds, on the Potomac, and on the Shenandoah.  I like throwing a white spinner bait too, sometimes with a few strands of green or chartruese in the skirt, or silver tinsel.  White works great in clear or stained water.  I even find white working in slightly muddy water.  Not 'chocolate milk' muddy, just a little brown.

One of the best crankbaits I've ever thrown is a white Model A Bomber. Bar none.

I also have alot of success with white spinnerbaits and buzzbaits, but I've never tried a Senko or Soft plastic in white. Hmmmmmmm. Maybe something new to try?

I used a white beetle-spin today fishing for white perch.  I found bass waiting in drop offs, just a shade deeper than where the perch were.  I'd cast it up close to the shore and let it sink, then reel it in slowly.  On a lot of casts, I'd either get a perch in the shallow or a strike from a bass in the deeper water.  The water was stained, and full of pollen.  I hear a lot about the need for confidence in a bait.  I don't know what that is supposed to mean.  I don't think the fish cares whether you are confident or not.  I think if you throw it where he is, and in a manner that would provoke a strike, and he sees it, he'll hit the lure, and it's just that simple.  I also think you have to pick a bait to suit the body of water and the conditions you find.  e.g.  smaller baits in winter, deep running baits during a front, and I like soft plastics when the weather gets hot.  Just my $.02

and if you fish a white bait it is easier to see how it is moving on a bed during the spawn. Ish Monroe throws a HUGE white tube during the spawn and says its not about what the fish likes but so he can see it.

One of the best baits for me is a white spinnerbait all year long.  It gives a great profile for the fish to see from under it.

never realy thought about this but i love to throw a white spinnerbait and a jerkbait but white plastics are the last thing in the box i will throw.why i dont know but if u could put a treble hook on a shotgun shell i would throw it before the white plastic i just never have any luck with them never thought about it though good topic.

White spinnerbaits and jerkbaits are great in stained water or clear water when it's cloudy.

White is a good color for plastics when you're presenting them off the bottom or imitating baitfish. flukes, horny toads, drop shot, swimming a tube, throwing a wacky rigged senko at schooling fish...

As a general Rule of Thumb, there are only two colors, white and "dark," or some variation.  :

White works "all the time," sometimes. White, white and silver, white and black, white and chartreuse...these are MANDATORY colors and color combinations. White is a color you need to be comfortable with.

My first Choice is a white Chatter Style bait, If I have no luck I then go to White Chartreuse.

you guys dont like white baits at night.  black is definitely my go to color but white is the only other color i use.  try it when there is a little moonlight.

if you want to develop some confidence in white plastics get some white or pearl super flukes.  they should build your confidence.

in addition to cranks and spinnerbaits i like white jigs in the fall or pretty much anytime im swimming em.

White spinners, just like the rest of them have said.  I never not have one in the box.  Use it all year.

I agree with RW. White should be part of your arsenal. I don't use white very often but, it does have its time and place. If the river or lake is Shad populated, this is a great time to swim a white jig. I use them on the Lower Potomac in which is tidal. When the tide is draining the creeks I like to be on the main river at the mouth and swim white jigs, it works. Also, sometimes when I cannot get anything going in the rivers around here it seems a white grub will always boat a few. Good luck.

I too was sceptical about white baits :-?, till really this year. I am throwing nothing but a white spinner this time of year as far as lures go, and it really kills them in the shallows, now when it comes to deep water thats where I find where I not having much luck with white anything.

When it comes to a spinnerbait the best color you can be throwing is definitely is white, it immulates shad.
