Need Help With Ideas

I want something to fish out of, that is 1 person friendly, stable, and maybe the option of putting a trolling motor on. I will fish resivoirs mostly, and the lake weekdays when its not busy. Something i can load up in the truck when I'm in a hurry to catch the last couple hours of daylight.

Are there any options other than kayak and canoes ?

Get a kayak....there are a lot of guys that have put trolling motors on their kayaks and they are one of the easiest to transport.  Plus you never have to worry about mechanical issues and can take them to lakes and rivers with no problems.  Depending on the model their are some very stable yaks out their.

Have you looked at Creek Boats?  They are mostly built for a trolling motor on the back with foot pedals to operate.

pelican bass raider, 10-12 jon boat off craigslist, or creek boat.  Personally I think it is hard to beat a 10-12ft jon boat with a trolling motor or 9.9hp motor for what you need.

Whatever you choose just make sure you try it out first. There are such a wide spectrum of small boats/kayaks/canoes these days that you may love certain features of one and hate things about another. Often times these things won't make themselves evident until you've used the boat.

 

If your considering a kayak there are a few message boards like this one loaded with very helpful info. I don't know the rules about posting other websites so I won't post one here but if you google search it you'll come up with plenty to keep you busy. I'm a "yak angler" (hint, hint) myself so I would of course suggest looking in that direction.

These are a good option. I had one when I was a kid. It's stable for a small boat and ideal for one person. It also offers you the ability to move around more than a kayak, gives you more room for your stuff, and offers a built in livewell. Also, 28-40lb thrust trolling motor will push you along just fine, but if you want to upgrade, you can put an outboard on it. I put an 8 horse on mine and it'd run 15-20 mph. Only disadvantage I can think of for it is it's too heavy to put in the back of your truck if you're by yourself, but a trailer for it isn't a whole lot more. I absolutely loved mine and would have kept it if I didn't need the money to upgrade. These boats have been around for quite a while and over the years have went by different names. If you look up Bass Hound 10.2 and Bass Tender 10.2 you'll also find they are the same. Most of the time you can find one on craigslist for around $500-700.
