ghost_207 Posted December 26, 2010 Posted December 26, 2010 I am looking for a headlamps around $50. What do you recommend. thanks Quote
Hamby Posted December 26, 2010 Posted December 26, 2010 I don't know of any specific ones, but make sure you get one with a red light also. That way you're not blind after tying a knot. Quote
Super User bilgerat Posted December 26, 2010 Super User Posted December 26, 2010 I'm always looking for a better one. I prefer the ones that clip to the bill of the hat vs the ones with the headbands. My biggest complaint with the clip type ones is most of them are made of plastic and the clips break eventually. This one looks promising, it's got a metal clip and is water resistant. It has only white light, I can deal with that. http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.homedepot.com/catalog/productImages/400/f6/f65a7952-5619-4b6e-a165-cd984f56fb06_400.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay%3FlangId%3D-1%26storeId%3D10051%26catalogId%3D10053%26N%3D5yc1vZ1xg1Zarr0Zik%26R%3D202388701&usg=___SqJ-tTM6EXv1iiB8uAT4plSK1E=&h=400&w=400&sz=14&hl=en&start=6&zoom=1&um=1&itbs=1&tbnid=7KApdLnG1FypTM:&tbnh=124&tbnw=124&prev=/images%3Fq%3Denergizer%2Bcap%2Blights%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DG%26rlz%3D1R2ADFA_enUS408%26tbs%3Disch:1 Quote
backwater4 Posted December 26, 2010 Posted December 26, 2010 I've been using Petzl's for work and home/fishing. They seem to hold up well and batteries last a long time. The band is comfortable also. Even comes in a camo color, I think. Quote

Dockhead Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 Check this one out: http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_10213152_100016007_100000000_100016000?hvarAID=shopping_googlebase&om_mmc=shopping_googlebase It is the clip to the bill of your cap kind, really convenient. And you recharge it in your truck's power outlet. Again, very convenient, don't have to worry about batteries. (If that link doesn't work it is made by Quarrow.) Quote

Troutfisher Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 My friend bought one on Ebay once from Taiwan, it was like $60 but it was valued at over $100. It took a few weeks to arrive, but it is the brightest headlamp I have ever seen. I will have to get the name and post it on here when I see him again. Quote
shootermcbob Posted December 28, 2010 Posted December 28, 2010 I have the cabelas alaskan guide headlamp with the 3 green led bulbs. It is exceedingly bright, also has white maxbrite led for long distances, and is very easy on batteries. I have used it for about 6 years now hunting and fishing. Best part, if you watch, they will go on sale from time to time for 24.95 to 29.95. At that price, it is a great value. Quote
Aluma-Bass Posted December 30, 2010 Posted December 30, 2010 I bought mine at Walmart...one of the led ones made by Energizer for like $20..ive had it now for over 3yrs and still works GREAT!!! I use it for everything fishing, hunting or just working around house! I even used it diving in shallow waters at night with out a prob! works GREAT!! Not to mention batteries last forever! I know your thinking CHEAP bc from wally or not top of line brand but well worth $$ i promise you! http://www.walmart.com/ip/Energizer-5-LED-Headlight/15571828?sourceid=1500000000000003260410&ci_src=14110944&ci_sku=15571828 Quote
Super User burleytog Posted December 30, 2010 Super User Posted December 30, 2010 The Petzl TacTikka XP is the best I've used. The boost button pretty much makes it a spotlight. If you've spent a night in my boat, you know what I'm talking about. Quote
Drug Coder Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 I've always been very happy with the Black Diamond "Spot" You can choose a 3 LED option for a dimmer/wide light or a bright 1 LED option for more of a spotlight. Quote
