Help Replacing Handle On Shimano Citica

So I wanted to change to handle on my Shimano Citica 200G and it seamed easy. I notice after I put the handle back on that it wasn't clicking as I adjusted the drag. I never took anything off but the handle and don't see what the problem is. Are there any preloaded springs that I'm not seeing that could have came loose behind the drag star or something? I'm don't know much about reels but have no idea how I screwed up something as simple as this.

Make sure you have the drag star lined up with the retaining nut under it. That square nut needs to seat and line up inside the drag star.

I have it all lined up. I'm able to loosen and tighten the drag it's just isn't clicking anymore when I turn the drag star.

It is real easy to not align the nut while compressing the spring.....My advice is to double check it. One more thing make sure you have about three threads showing above the nut.

You probably lost the click pin. Very small part. I upgraded a few handles on some shimano reels and found out I lost 2 of these in the process. Check your reel schematic paying attention to all necessary small parts associated with with the click plate assembly.

Did you lose the click pin? You said that you change the handle. Is the click plate stuck to the bottom of the original handle. If not, did you install the click plate dimples down?

So while taking the reel apart, again, I discovered a tiny spring on my desk and after looking at the schematics for the reel I think the click pin flew out. After seeing the size of the spring I don't imagine finding the pin is going to be an easy task. I think my only option is to order another pin and hope that's the problem.?

Those are VERY small. About the size of a ball point pen tip. You can see the importance of schematics here and you didn't even open the reel up. I work over soft white drop cloth. Dropping something is inevitable and this helps keep stuff from bouncing away and makes them easier to see.

Yea I expected small parts but not THAT small. I have no doubt I can do the work I just didn't know what I was getting myself into at the time. Lesson learned.

I've ordered several parts myself. Usual charge has always been $3.00;However on a couple of occasions, the tech has thrown in a part or two at no charge. For one little piece you might get lucky and get a freebie.

So far their online parts ordering section has been great for me. Knobs, bearings, drag star and related parts......the orders have been perfect every time.

Another great thing about their parts section is if they don't have a part in stock, just give them your email and you get notified when the part becomes available.

Why?  Because I can accomplish more, get better service, and do not need to know the part numbers.  Often I order other things not commonly listed - like Permalub, Star Grease, Bantam Oil, etc.  An automated website app doesn't offer discounts or free shipping, either.

You do make some good points but I try my best to avoid talking to anyone if I can help it. That's with most companies, not just Shimano.
