IronSpork Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 So I wanted to change to handle on my Shimano Citica 200G and it seamed easy. I notice after I put the handle back on that it wasn't clicking as I adjusted the drag. I never took anything off but the handle and don't see what the problem is. Are there any preloaded springs that I'm not seeing that could have came loose behind the drag star or something? I'm don't know much about reels but have no idea how I screwed up something as simple as this. Quote
Maico1 Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 Make sure you have the drag star lined up with the retaining nut under it. That square nut needs to seat and line up inside the drag star. Quote
IronSpork Posted February 6, 2014 Author Posted February 6, 2014 I have it all lined up. I'm able to loosen and tighten the drag it's just isn't clicking anymore when I turn the drag star. Quote
Maico1 Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 It is real easy to not align the nut while compressing the spring.....My advice is to double check it. One more thing make sure you have about three threads showing above the nut. Quote
Super User kickerfish1 Posted February 6, 2014 Super User Posted February 6, 2014 You probably lost the click pin. Very small part. I upgraded a few handles on some shimano reels and found out I lost 2 of these in the process. Check your reel schematic paying attention to all necessary small parts associated with with the click plate assembly. Quote
John G Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 Did you lose the click pin? You said that you change the handle. Is the click plate stuck to the bottom of the original handle. If not, did you install the click plate dimples down? Quote
IronSpork Posted February 7, 2014 Author Posted February 7, 2014 So while taking the reel apart, again, I discovered a tiny spring on my desk and after looking at the schematics for the reel I think the click pin flew out. After seeing the size of the spring I don't imagine finding the pin is going to be an easy task. I think my only option is to order another pin and hope that's the problem.? Quote
John G Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Shimano online parts should have what you need. Quote
IronSpork Posted February 7, 2014 Author Posted February 7, 2014 Thanks I looked it up and there currently not available with no ETA so looks like I'll have to wait. Quote
John G Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 BNT2122 is in stock on the Shimano Parts page for a Citica 200E 6 and 7. Just Google BNT2122 Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Those are VERY small. About the size of a ball point pen tip. You can see the importance of schematics here and you didn't even open the reel up. I work over soft white drop cloth. Dropping something is inevitable and this helps keep stuff from bouncing away and makes them easier to see. 1 Quote

I didn't know the parts from the E series would fit the newer reels. Those are VERY small. About the size of a ball point pen tip. I have no doubt I can do the work I just didn't know what I was getting myself into at the time. Lesson learned. Quote
John G Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Wow thank you! I didn't know the parts from the E series would fit the newer reels. I meant G 6 and 7. There is no Citica 200E7. http://fishshop.shimano.com/vip/product_detail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524441848234&SKU%3C%3Esku_id=1689949372102650 That 99 cent pin will cost you $6.00 in shipping. Call em up and see if they will give it you for free. All they can say no. Quote

doublest Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 I've ordered several parts myself. Usual charge has always been $3.00;However on a couple of occasions, the tech has thrown in a part or two at no charge. For one little piece you might get lucky and get a freebie. Quote
John G Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 I just place an order just to check the shipping charges and in the type of shipping area it said Warehouse Decides $6.00 The only part that I placed an order for was a click pin for the op's Citica. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted February 7, 2014 Super User Posted February 7, 2014 I personally recommend calling them directly for parts. Quote
John G Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 I personally recommend calling them directly for parts. Why? So far their online parts ordering section has been great for me. Knobs, bearings, drag star and related parts......the orders have been perfect every time. Another great thing about their parts section is if they don't have a part in stock, just give them your email and you get notified when the part becomes available. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted February 7, 2014 Super User Posted February 7, 2014 Why? Because I can accomplish more, get better service, and do not need to know the part numbers. Often I order other things not commonly listed - like Permalub, Star Grease, Bantam Oil, etc. An automated website app doesn't offer discounts or free shipping, either. Quote

You do make some good points but I try my best to avoid talking to anyone if I can help it. That's with most companies, not just Shimano. Quote
