Mike2841 Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 I was just at a local tackle shop and they had a BNIB daiwa zillion for 250 so i scooped it up, 100% impulse buy. The reel feels great and I can't wait to use it. I was kind of hesitant to buy it because there's a lot of new reels coming out with with all sorts of cool features. Any zillion users out there how do you like the reel? On a side note they also had a previous version antares, morrum sx mag, and abu eon, thank god they were all righty or I probably would've spent a lot more money... stupid bait monkey. Quote
daiwaguy Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 I own several Zillions 100SHA's,100HA,100SHSA,100HSHR. You will love them. It is my favorite reel. Very reliable and has a very durable finish. You made a great decision. Quote
Grantman83 Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 Zillions are great and I own several variations. Specifically te type r, hsa, hpa, two 50th anniversary. They cover all areas you could want except finesse stuff BUT you can customize them with different spools. They are tanks but smooth as butter. You won't be dissapointed Quote
5fishlimit Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 I just picked up my 2nd zillion. Enjoy it. Quote
Super User rippin-lips Posted February 6, 2014 Super User Posted February 6, 2014 Grab a td-100m spool for it now. It was a great improvement to an already great reel. Boca orange seals are another good upgrade for it. Quote
Super User Teal Posted February 6, 2014 Super User Posted February 6, 2014 I have one too and love it. The reel is a tank. Tough as nails ans performs like a champ. Congrats Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted February 7, 2014 Super User Posted February 7, 2014 Congrats on the new reel. My 50th is a favorite. Also have 2 others, a PE Line Special and a blinged 100SHLA. A guy asked me one day last summer how I liked my baitcast reels. Told me he had one he seldom used because he'd make 3 or 4 good casts then backlash. I turned spool tension up a bit (I run it very loose), and handed him my 50th, 12# Elite, Custom 7' MHF Rainshadow and 1/2 oz. spinnerbait. A while later he asked me how to backlash the reel. Told him to lower spool tension. His reply was that he already had. I told him to lower the brake then. Later he told me he must be using the wrong reel. I will say that the SHLA backlashes easier than the 50th, but maybe I just don't have it set up quite right yet as it was a new purchase last year and I was trying out several new combos. It has been my experience that you can't set all your Diawa reels at 5 and have them all perform exactly the same way. Too many other variables. Quote
jtesch Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 Yup, TD-Z 100 spool and boca bearings and you will have a tank of a reel that will also cast lighter lures fairly well. I liked my Zillions before but now I love them and if you got it for $250 you can put these upgrades into it and be and still only pay around what a Zillion usually costs Quote
