Pz3 Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 New guy here living near East Lake. Thought I would say Hi and read around on the forums. I seriously enjoy setting up a bunch of rods/reels and catching a lot of catfish but bass fishing for sport is still my favorite. I don't eat them but do enjoy trying to trick them into getting hooked. Although I've fished since I can remember I really started getting into it the last 6 months. Reading up on bass behaviors, habits, etc... really trying to figure out these fishs' bad habbits. The fall was really excellent and a ton of fun. This month and last have been much more challenging to me. Seems I might be missing something (maybe its because im land locked). Although I have noticed that the fish in the past week are starting to spawn or at least picking their spawn locations. I'm thinking the fish might be feeding heavily at night but I haven't tried yet to find out. Been reading up on tournaments too, might venture into that, as well as starting a youtube fishing channel. None the less, here I am. Hey to everyone. Quote

Super User F14A-B Posted February 7, 2014 Super User Posted February 7, 2014 You are in a awesome location to catch big females.. 8 to 12 llb. Yep . It's started (spawn) if you have no boat .. Golden shiners.. If you enjoy live/ dead bait fishing... Biguns too.. They are expensive and can be hard too keep alive... But they exhibit so much fear at the presence of largemouth. In a boat? Flip/ pitch .. look for beds .. They stand out most times! Lastly... Have fun! Tell us how you catch them! Spence Ps.. I flip big 8 to 10" worm in beds.. My use of jigs very troublesome in fl. fishing because of heavy hydrilla 1 Quote

Pz3 Posted February 12, 2014 Author Posted February 12, 2014 Thanks everyone! @alonerankin2 will be out on the water soon enough, I live near some of the canals and seen guys pull everything out of there. 20lb catfish, 12lb bass, 6-8 seems to be the common weight usually. I still won't claim I've caught them that big yet. I need a scale to know for sure Quote
